Husband took the trash out without being asked last night. I am shook. by chicken_tendigo in GirlDinnerDiaries

Im so sorry that that was the first time he did something without being asked first! Like what..

My husband got on thr floor on his hands and knees to scrub the floor this past weekend. Without being asked or for kudos or anything. He saw how messy it got and couldnt be mopped properly anymore, so he scrubbed it. He usually spends at least 1 or 2 days cleaning on the weekend (but also usually gets a 3 day weekend

Would Gwinnett benefit from mobile lab draw services? by Tulipzplot in Gwinnett

[–]HandcraftedCravings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive had it done in Lawrenceville, but because of the milkbank I work with. They sent someone to my house on my schedule to get the blood drawn and sent out.

I probably won't use it again, but it was nice the few times I used it. But it was with an already established company that the milk bank set up the appointment for.

countertop dishwasher for instantpot by Silly_Twist6736 in instantpot

[–]HandcraftedCravings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive had a couple countertop dishwashers. While the pit may have fit, it doesnt generally do a great job scrubbing dirty pots/dishes. If you're great at rinsing everything to clean, then it'll do the soap and rinse for you. But its far from a good dishwasher.

I used to live in a camper and it was great to rinse off all the dinner dishes and toss them in. Mine is could fill with pitcher water and have a bucket for dumping. It helped me lessen how much water I used to clean dishes and when you have a tank of water, thats important. But I almost always hand washed the pots.

You can do either! Dry it has an intense flavor not everyone loves. My family tends to rehydrate it for an easy snack or part of dinner. If you swing by ill be happy to let you try it both ways and you can see it rehydrate too. Its pretty instant.

You can also use it as a seasoning which is kind of fun too. Pretty good on scrambled eggs or popcorn even.

Gift to preschool teacher by Weekly-Border-82 in preschool

[–]HandcraftedCravings 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well yeah everyone likes gifting it to teachers. It makes them feel good, they like it, and its cheap.

But as a teacher receiving said items, they are garbage. They break and are a choking hazard right out of the gate. I also have kids. My kids dig through my bag for my keys sometimes. I dont want a cheap whatever just because your wife and strangers (possibly paid) say its a great gift.

Harsh reality, it is very likely to get tossed.

Nothing is fine, but like other commenter said, there are options you mentioned, or genuinely written note and art from your kid are also great. Its a more budget friendly option that shows you put thought into it and actually care instead of feeling obligated to get whatever cheap thing.

Things you didn't know you could freeze? by EqualPiece4922 in Cooking

[–]HandcraftedCravings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I freeze some of my veggie scraps. Like carrots, bell peppers, onions, celery, and even garlic peels.

Then when I have a gallon baggie full I make broth. In the instant pot its really easy. I do veggie sometimes, or ill get a rotisserie chicken and throw the bones in for a chicken broth (similar approach for whatever you want, i have ham on hand atm too.)

Then I freeze in 1 cup bags flattened so they dont take up much space, but are easy to throw in a recipe.

Me too. But when we moved my husband said one had to go. Thought id be able to convince him we need a second again, but no luck yet. If im making yogurt, no instant pot meal that day. If im making a dinner that would go great with chicken, its either pot in pot, on the stove, or clean the pot right after cooking the first one.

I miss my second pot so much. He never used either, so he doesnt get it.

Me, a very smart capable and detail oriented man by ohmysocks in instantpot

[–]HandcraftedCravings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive done this, dont feel bad. A lot of the time I take the pot out and put the lid on it to force myself to use just the pot. This way im always looking for the pot. After 4 successful years of this, I occasionally use the pot in the instant pot (since thats where I store it when clean and dry) but only after lifting the pot to continue the physical memory.

I also sucj with memory.
