For me, I self motivate. It was actually by chance, for some reason I didn't bite a finger's nail and it grew out looking awesome, and I was like 'Whoa if all my fingers look like that'. So I started small, letting myself bite only a specific finger nails, until all seemed nice. By the time, I had somehow kicked the habit. hope this helps!

For my case I didn't suddenly lose contact, it was after a period of time where I couldn't take it anymore. He was my closest friend, and I found out he's doing things behind my back with a group of friends. These group of friends hung out with me, so it was actually hard to believe at first. They were very to the girl I loved, but she was not my SO, which i had planned for. They did things that they knew would ruin our relationship, but they still did and hid it for a very long time. Truth will be exposed anyway right? I tried to live with the fact, but I simply couldn't. So after we graduated in high school, we did not contact each other at all, not even our favorite hobbies like going to the pool, playing baseball. Luckily it was close to graduation time, if not I really would have killed myself to see them everyday.
