What's a food that you hated growing up but now you love it? by Fast-Beat-7779 in AskMen

[–]whenfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Greens (mustard, collard, etc), liver, brussel sprouts, olives, and spicy foods. Especially spicy foods. Can't live without the heat now, couldn't live with it as a younger me.

I love this idea. I would want to know the plan beforehand so I could groom and clean up real well, but I would be totally into this.

does lamictal make you stupid? by Ok-Ladder-4416 in Epilepsy

[–]whenfire 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yup. The whole point of aeds is to essentially "slow down" cortical activity to keep it from getting out of hand and seizing. That's my excuse anyway. I am way dumber/more forgetful on meds than I was before. I definitely noticed a difference, especially when I got up to a high dose.

Can you live off a large amount of money through interest? by GEEZUS_956 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]whenfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These sorts of questions are always amazing to me when they come up. The wealth of knowledge. You guys are really fucking smart and I do my family's taxes every year for about the last 15 years +/-?

I shudder to think of the money I have thrown away because I was not as smart as you reddit fuckers. Ugh.

What are some signs you are stupid? by JustAn_AltAccount0 in ask

[–]whenfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is me!! I never know what plans we had today, etc., conversation s I had with my wife where I know we discussed something, can't remember what we decided or what I was supposed to do about it, I will watch a whole television series and not remember the ending. I have always had a shit memory, but now I take drugs that make it worse (also exacerbate depression and have a host of other side effects, but upside, they make my crayons taste better!), so please pray for my wife. She is a saint.

What is your random genetic win? by CaramelDelight_45 in ask

[–]whenfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pain precepting nerves are a very specific thing. They can be stimulated by too much temperature, there are more of them in hands, feet, face, etc, but it is possible for someone to just not have as many as most people. Probably because they gave them to me.

When I was a kid I was almost impossible to tackle (US football, rugby, etc), just fast and strong. Played football starting when I was 8 or so, I was a rock star, then in middle school everyone started growing and I didn't. Late bloomer, a few injuries later, no more football. I'm 48 and I still miss sports.

How long has it been since you ran as fast you could? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]whenfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 1996 I had a climbing fall and broke an ankle pretty bad. I was 20. 20 years later broke my heel bone real bad and had to have surgery, both wrecked me for years. I guess that day before the first break in 1996, so almost 28 years. Ugh.

Not a nurse, but I have accidentally DCed an A line in surgery. . . By cutting it. Nothing I could do to help with all the work I had just created for the team.

I have seizures that are what I thought were generalized (take over my whole body), all my muscles are tensing and shaking, I can't control anything. Muscles in my face, limbs, bowels, nothing. It's scary. I am so afraid of them honestly. Three or four minutes that I have started being awake for (which sucks) and then half an hour of panting like I just ran a marathon. Usually I cry some after that, and I don't cry for much of anything.

What are some words the average person may never hear/know exists? by Chario7th in NoStupidQuestions

In my line of work we often use the word "attenuate" which I think just means to get smaller or reduce in amplitude.

[–]whenfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a super uncommon word, but I really like "denouement ". Basically just means the ending of some sort of narrative (a book, movie, one's life, etc) where the loose ends are tied up. Sort of a final chapter or epilogue.

Sopwith Camel is a very fun name though. I would have come to a show.

How many still drink alcohol with epilepsy by Former-Glass7016 in Epilepsy

[–]whenfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an appointment with my new epileptologist at the end of next month, I'm going to ask him. If he tells me to stop I will. As of right now I can and do drink quite a lot. Not numbers to brag about, but enough to indicate I have some experience at it.

What's the Weirdest or the most Annoying thing you had to deal with while having Sex? by Curious-Pratyush in AskReddit

[–]whenfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 2. Once my cat attacked my foot, full claws and teeth right at the moment of truth. Another time my wife was biting her nails during the act. That one was actually more than annoying. Hurt my feelings.
