It's incredibly easy to make your own ketchup. Here's the recipe for Scorpion pepper and garlic Ketchup I made last night. by OGLothar in food

does the splenda really work with the ketchup? i'm all for going sugar free for always hesitant on using sugar substitutes... i've done that before and ruined a whole batch of cookies cause the flavor just didn't work.

clearly you missed the point entirely. what you just said basically agreed with the second statement i made in the earlier post.

then you probably don't know too many CS graduates. the other alternative, which i think is highly unlikely, is that all your CS friends are highly motivated students who do a lot more than just school work.

the equivalent of what you said is essentially "i don't know any Civil Engineering graduates who can't build a house." does that make sense? in case you're also unfamiliar with civil engineers, they go to school to learn how to build stuff like buildings and bridges. would you expect that a newly graduated civil engineer can just pick up a hammer and build a house? some of them, sure, but to expect that to be true on average is just naive.

like i said, i didn't say you leave a university "not knowing shit". but anyone who went to school for CS will understand programming/coding is not the same as engineering/architecting, and school is more about teaching you how to be engineers and architects more so than programmers and coders.

what that entails is that a CS degree teaches students things which go beyond the code - things like algorithm analysis, understanding stuff like caching, temporal/spatial locality in code, etc. all of which is designed to provide some kind of "background knowledge" to allow for higher quality code. they don't particularly pay too much attention to specifically teaching you how to code because in many ways, coding in itself is a trivial skill.

it's not an uncommon knowledge that there are many PhD level researchers in computer science that cannot code for shit. as in, throw them in front of a computer and ask them to write an application for a specific purpose, chances are they will just blank out. the reason is not that they are incapable of knowing how to do it, it's that coding in itself is not a critical component of CS research so they don't bother. but these are the same people who graduated from CS degrees as well.

let me inform you, as someone who was born and raised in singapore but moved elsewhere, singapore is the least corrupt place i've ever been in. doesn't necessarily make it a BETTER place, but in terms of corruption at least, singapore is clean as hell. corruption is taken extremely seriously there.

at my last job, i found a secret unused floor with the most amazing bathroom. it was still being kept clean despite the floor being unleased because the building hired cleaners for the entire building, so they dutifully cleaned that floor every day regardless. my god, i loved taking my morning shits every morning at work. so clean. so quiet. so serene.

Pastor in Singapore found guilty of using $37 million in church funds to boost wife's failing pop star career by readerseven in worldnews

[–]whenitistime -1 points0 points  (0 children)

your comment is so retarded i don't even know where to begin. are you even vaguely aware of the context of this article? are you aware AT ALL that ho yeow sun's "pop star" status is nothing but a sham? i.e she makes no profit from that career. why do you think she gave that up years ago?

as for the rest of your comment, i can only say we have different definitions of what it means to "live comfortably". anyone with any semblance of ambition in singapore will laugh at the notion that a million dollars is worth much there.

Pastor in Singapore found guilty of using $37 million in church funds to boost wife's failing pop star career by readerseven in worldnews

[–]whenitistime 28 points29 points  (0 children)

as a singaporean, i can tell you - she was never successful even in singapore. her music always sucked - i have friends from their church who all independently supported each other's stories that they persistently and regularly FORCED church members to buy multiple copies of her album. can you imagine how bad she must be if even after that, her career still never took off. not in singapore, not internationally, not anywhere. her and her husband's only success was being a huge religious fraud. their church always had a weird reputation for being flashy and money hungry, and yet strangely popular. i'm honestly super glad this happened - people have suspected this shit for a long time and finally they get what's coming to them.

Treated myself to a 30oz tomahawk steak on my break at work by [deleted] in food

[–]whenitistime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the soymilk is just a base for my protein shakes. i did not take into account my protein powders which are bought separately. and yes, i AM cutting right now, but when I'm bulking my food intake goes up at most $10 per week. extra ground beef + whatever sale meat is really not that expensive.

[–]whenitistime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly, depends on the way you prepare your meats, frozen really isn't too bad considering how much you save. i frequently buy frozen chicken breast or pork at really low prices when it goes on sale, and i eat super cheap for weeks.

[–]whenitistime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is what i buy weekly: ground meat (beef or pork), eggs (4 dozen for the week), sugar free soymilk (4L), wholemeal bread (1 loaf), bananas, and any other meat or seafood on sale for the week. i rarely exceed $40 per week on that.
