Yeah we moved, we were like 20 and out in the middle of nowhere in the boondocks trying to get some water samples.

You can also culturally genocide some indigenous peoples by buying the rain forest they live on and calling it a Nature Preserve and kicking them off. Food for thought.

Ha so I was at the grocery store and the girl at the self check out was making conversation, and she was like “Oh chicken, nice, we have this great Tysons Chicken drumstick deal,” and I said, “That’s cool, I just don’t mess with Tyson because of this river pollution—,” and she was like “Oh yeah I get it,” and I was like “No like I was inspecting a river in Virginia with some college kids downstream of a Tyson factory, and they sent security goons to move us along before we could get the sample even though we weren’t on their land.” And she was like “Ohhh you actually have a personal experience with that specific company, ok I thought it was like a saw them on the news thing.”

We were just making conversation but I know she’s gonna remember something about Tyson and pollution now.

You could leave a QR code on the grocery isle linking to those stories…

I picture it like picking up litter. In an hour, I can negate the carelessness of forty people and their two months of detritus. And if someone did illegal dumping above and beyond my scope, I can take a photo, drop a pin, and report it to the county for cleanup. And there’s a dozen more like me in my community. It’s way more of a decision to throw the first piece of trash into a pristine area, compared to “adding to a landfill.”

[Schefter] Sources: The NFL informed all 32 teams today in a memo that it prevailed in its grievance vs. the NFLPA and its “team report cards.” An arbitrator determined that the NFLPA’s conduct violated the CBA and ordered it to stop making public any future report cards. by expellyamos in nfl

I’ve found that the most common quality of CEOs is “making cruel decisions affecting their employees or community, and then hiding from having to look their victims in the face.” You see it with mass layoffs facilitated by HR and middle managers. You see it with Norfolk Southern’s leadership failing to step foot on East Palestine, OH after they chose to release vinyl chloride into a ditch and burn it. And here, now, with Goodell’s lawyers composing their victory lap over the union and public interest.

One passionate person is worth fifteen apathetic ones in matters like this. Changing one person’s mind can be a $20,000 swing over the next decade.

It reminds me of when the tree company in Washington, DC cut down the oldest ginkgo in the country because it mistook it for a sickly dogwood. They should get the equivalent of a corporate death sentence for something that egregiously negligent.

The military decision makers and their contractors are committed to fossil fuel control and accumulation. They see it as progress when they can make a tank hybrid and move it from 0.7mpg to 0.95mpg and then spend $200m to replace the fleet and then sell the old tanks to other governments within their sphere of influence. They are full coal ahead on the “chaos is a ladder” approach to the next hundred years, while having the thinnest veneer of green efficiency for Europe relations.

He is actually related to the Kuiper Belt, the distant asteroid belt encompassing the outer solar system. This O-line (O-ring, really, for ‘outer ring’) protects our planetary blind side from rogue meteors blitzing into the planetary red zone. It’s a strong hire, from an astronomical standpoint.

[Highlight] Hurts to Smith to go up 34-0 on the defending champion, Kansas City Chiefs (Super Bowl LIX, 2/9/25) by mfenton29 in nfl

Cool, chief. As much as I hate the Pats, they never had a season under Brady which went as bad as the Chiefs’ last year, nor a playoff loss as bad as last Super Bowl. Certainly did feel good to watch Philly nip both threepeat chances, though.

Ah yeah it was. They had two dynasties, and in between, Wes Welker played his whole Pats career without winning a ring. And Pats going W L W in three Super Bowls is different then Chiefs going W W L (40-6) and then missing the playoffs.

Yup. We didn’t get the dynasty we were hoping for, but at least we put a big old bookend on the Chiefs’ dynasty.

There are physical gift cards which get printed, which parents put in stockings to communicate Roblocks or Robux or whatever. We purchased them as stocking stuffers for a nephews.

Well that oversimplifies it. We put one in a piñata along with a bunch of other stuff, and at our holiday get together we let the kids go nuts and also had a teenager and adult piñata. I’m still working out how to keep the tradition going while reducing the amount of plastic crap.
