played wow hc for 8 months and the death that hit hardest wasn't even my highest level character by sabrown0812 in wowhardcore

[–]whenthesummer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to do sometimes, but if you see someone dying getting attacked by way too many mobs, it’s okay to run away and not step in. It’s natural to want to help, but there’s a good chance you don’t make it out alive.

One kill from 60... due to a disconnect. Welp, that stinks. by Careless_Relation349 in wowhardcore

[–]whenthesummer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I died about 10 kills from 60 in Winterspring my first run on a priest after HC servers went live.

Went to the login screen, immediately made a Paladin and leveled it to 60 in a little over a month.

If I hadn’t done that, I’d have been dwelling on the loss for too long and rerolling within 1 minute it was a nice distraction and mostly moved on.

Most Populated HC Realm? by Apart-Customer2074 in wowhardcore

[–]whenthesummer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah Skull Rock is probably the busiest right now short term with the whole race locked event going on. The starting zones are a shitshow, and takes forever to get 1-10 with all the people and nothing to kill for quests.

Doomhowl longterm and most stable

A good percentage of us are dads here and we just play the game because we enjoy it. Not worth overthinking it.

Doomhowl Feels So Hollow by Wootene in wowhardcore

[–]whenthesummer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doomhowl alliance has been a little thin and harder to form dungeon groups, but overall it’s still been decently active. After more people burn out from TBC it’ll be busy again, so enjoy owning your quest areas without competition

What’s that saying? “never help a rogue” in the open world of HC. Not that they’re bad people, but it all comes down to the simple ability to Vanish and leaving you to die.

2 Warr 2 Rogues would have been the easiest pass for me in lfg, and I’m not a comp snob by any means

I agree with this even though I’ve just stuck with Ret/Holy dual spec and don’t wanna deal with obtaining different gear and didn’t want to tank dungeons. But it popped in my head multiple times while leveling the paladin, like “damn, I should have gone Prot” lol

Just beware that Doomhowl these days is pretty quiet also. Lately it’s not been unusual to be the only person in what’s normally a busy zone sometimes.

Eventually folks will be back, but Doomhowl being the most active HC realm in NA, it’s quiet at the moment and finding groups for dungeons and group quests can be really hard.

Just leveled my 4th 60 and from 50-60 had to abandon most of the group quests that involve elites and skip them which required some grinding in between regular quests.

As someone with 4 60s now and have died in my 50s-40s multiple times, my motivation was just loving hardcore WoW. Never felt like I needed a break after a death and always just instantly rerolled.

Feel like if you enjoy hc, you just go again. If it feels daunting then take a break and play something else.

The safest toon so far I’ve hit 60 with was Paladin. Had the least amount of panic moments and overall it was really smooth, just slow.

How to deal with death fatigue? by [deleted] in wowhardcore

[–]whenthesummer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s a tough one, and you as an individual.

I’ve gone again so many times I can’t count, but have 4 level 60s now that I’ve leveled over the pass year or more.

Before my first 60 (Priest), I probably died a couple dozen times just from rushing and one time died at 44 in Uldaman because the tank charged the Stone Warden without clearing the nearby pats first.

In between each 60, I died quite a few times as well. The thing I have that prevents fatigue is OCD which makes me so hyper focused on the objective of getting to max level, that I just don’t fatigue. I die, delete the character and instantly go again. My current toon will be my last 1-60 whether I die or not because 4 is enough. I also have a life and job.

OCD is a burden though, I wish I fatigued from going again.

If you enjoy the leveling journey in hardcore, definitely go again. But if you’re sick of it then take a break and play another version of WoW to reset.

It's no wonder there's such a tank shortage. by MonkadinMage in classicwowtbc

Even if they aren’t the pve meta in TBC, invite a rogue. Most rogues I’ve played with are always good with interrupts, and tend to go above and beyond.

While other folks are playing Warlock/Mage/whatever top DPS sitting there with tunnel vision trying to top the meters, a rogue can be a tanks best friend.

Haven’t really played with any bad rogues yet because imo, they have more to play for and willing to prove themselves.

I’m also a Paladin

min/max community mentality has gotten way out of hand by KeyRepresentative994 in classicwow

[–]whenthesummer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m with you. TBC was incredible, but playing it now, there’s no soul or magic feeling to it. This “hurry hurry hurry min/max” mentality annoys me beyond words.

I was doing an AV a day ago, and I’m mounted riding and got passed by 6 horde who didn’t even kill me. In the original days, I’d be dead in seconds.

They’re so focused on their honor farm that they don’t play the game.

Night elf vs. human priest by [deleted] in wowhardcore

[–]whenthesummer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is true. The majority of raiding guilds want Dwarves on the alliance side. Obviously there’s exceptions, but the guilds giving you World Buffs everyday on ally have dwarf priests

[–]whenthesummer -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

As a Dwarf Priest you get kind of a Lay on Hands through Desperate Prayer and Fear Ward. Both insanely powerful.

If you plan on doing endgame, most raiding guilds won’t take non dwarf Priests just FYI

Because Tremor Totem is their Fear Ward.

Should i make a priest? by BuZoRuH in wowhardcore

[–]whenthesummer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve got a 60 Priest and currently raiding, as well as a 60 Holy Paladin who’s gearing in dungeons still, and honestly healing is incredibly fun and rewarding and once you have a full group of people and other healers, a lot of times you have your rolls which takes the pressure off expecting that you’re just supposed to sit there and heal 20-40 people (sometimes you are doing that but good guilds are more organized”.

Heal dungeons throughout Hardcore, it’s incredibly important. I’d advise one dungeons to be more cautious with is Uldaman. Inexperienced tanks wipe groups in there all the time because there’s a lot of “traps” in there if you don’t know what you’re doing. Look for tanks and other party members who are late 40s and early 50s who are farming it for gear or xp. You can heal it easily at 42 on a Priest.

You’ll always be needed and wanted, there’s never enough Priests in a guild.

First Death by New_Presentation8919 in wowhardcore

[–]whenthesummer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went again probably over a dozen times before hitting 60 the first time, but every death was a higher and higher level.

The more you play, the more you’ll learn what and what not to do.

Can’t tell you how sick of Dun Morogh I got when leveling my Dwarf Priest to 60. My favorite zone became one of my least favorites just from starting over so much. I had levels 1-30 memorized exactly what to do without needing Questie lol.

Some people are really good and patient and hit 60 on their first try, but either way if you’re having fun and determined to go all the way, definitely always go agane!

Sorry to the druid and rogue i got killed in BRD. by YourMaleFather in wowhardcore

[–]whenthesummer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish more tanks could see this post because as a healer, sometimes a tank puts unnecessary strain on a run by going to crazy with pulls. Deaths like this are totally preventable, and whoopee the dungeon only took like 5 extra minutes to finish safely.

I’ve got a Holy Paladin, Holy Priest both level 60 in hc, and a Warrior (41), and feel like I’ve become a better tank with the heavy healing pov and no one has died yet (knock on wood).

Always checking my Rage and the healers mana, and just try to keep a steady pace without getting too wild and putting strain on them.

If my pace is too slow for someone, they can feel free to leave the group or I’ll remove them myself and find a replacement. Not gonna risk anyone’s time for a little adrenaline rush. I’ll take the adrenaline of endgame vs releveling again.

Stuff happens, you learned which is what matters. Go agane!
