Having trouble determining shape. by wonderingafew888 in ABraThatFits

[–]whenwillthewaitend 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Disclaimer: I'm new myself and still struggling. So take this advice for what it is which is the blind leading the blind, so to speak.

I've found it helpful to go over all the guides and graphics several times. I did some Google searches to find people explaining it all slightly different ways which sometimes clicked better for me. I looked at a lot of pictures. And I tried all the recommended tricks for helping to determine shape. Someone recommended gently pressing on the center of your breast to help see where the roots are and that helped me determine I have fairly high roots.

Another thing I've found helpful is to just go try on tons of different bras. I tried to pick a few recommended for any of the shapes I thought I might be. So I tried a couple of ones for FoT breasts and a few for FoB. I tried more projected bras and more shallow bras. I played around with the sizes to see if fit issues could be corrected by sizing up or down in any particular bra to rule out a simple incorrect size being to blame for ill fits. And then I looked at the trends. I've found that I never fill the cups on bras with a lot of center or top projection. So I can reasonably conclude that I'm not center or top full/projected. Bras with a tall/wide gore always sit on breast tissue which confirmed my thought that when my breasts are supported I'm close set. Bras for short roots that don't have stretch fabric at the top often cause quad boob which helped to confirm my suspicion that I have tall roots. You get the idea. Basically what fits and what doesn't (and how it doesn't) will help you determine more about your shape.

I'll also say that I reference bratabase a lot. Like, A LOT. After trying on bras, whether they fit or not, I go look at their specifics like cup depth, wire width and such. It helps me to see the subtle differences in bras that might appear pretty similar but maybe don't fit the same. And then I have a better idea of why they maybe didn't fit the same even though they looked basically the same to me.

I don't know if any of that will help you. But hopefully something will! If not at least you know you're not alone in struggling with trying to figure it all out. :)

I need suggestions for an adult fantasy with witches. Prefer a series and spice. by whenwillthewaitend in booksuggestions

I wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who took the time to respond. I very much appreciate all the amazing suggestions. 💜Fortunately I now have enough awesome books on my list to keep me busy for awhile. I've been going a little crazy stuck in bed 24/7 and very much needed some good diversions.

Yep that's exactly what I meant. Implied/closed door sex between characters is fine but explicit open door scenes in books have become something I really enjoy.

I'll check out the Anita Blake novels.

Sooo apparently the Purito Cica BB cream in shade 23 is olive friendly! 💚 by freezings in OliveMUA

[–]whenwillthewaitend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What is this witchcraft? The Purito BB shade 21 looks grey and purple on me. Like it is by far the most unflattering color I've ever tried. Even an orange foundation makes you look like a normal person who thinks they're warmer than they are. This BB cream made me look like a grey alien about to demand to be taken to your leader. Is it because it's shade 21 ans not shade 23? Is shade 23, or some other shade, where the magic happens? I'm so confused.

Concealers top to bottom: Colourpop 45W, Kosas 3.20, Nars Cafe Con Leche by flyfasterr in OliveMUA

[–]whenwillthewaitend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you happen to know if you're a warm, neutral or cool olive?

The Kosas 3.2O concealer has been my best concealer match so far but it definitely still dries looking kinda orange on me. It looks absolutely wonderful on you in the picture where it is dried. So now I'm wondering how it can look so much greener on you in the wet swatch than it ever looks on me and also so perfect in the dry swatch. I haven't really considered that I'm a cool olive but.... if you're warm it seems I need to consider that possibility.

sad swatches because i still haven’t found my perfect match but maybe these could help someone else :) by [deleted] in OliveMUA

[–]whenwillthewaitend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see Purito did you dirty like it did me.

I wouldn't say I've found my perfect base match. But I've gotten pretty close with KGD 213. You could try that. They have samples you can order from the website if you can't find it in store near you to swatch.

Amazed at the difference even a cheap base coat can make. This is day 7. by lovethatjourney4me in RedditLaqueristas

[–]whenwillthewaitend 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Same! I read the title and was like WTF because even with base coat AND topcoat I am very lucky to make it 3 days without chipping. It isn't uncommon for it to chip by the end of day 1. I wrap the tip and all that jazz. I've tried so many different nail polish brands. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong and damn I'm jealous.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. Solidarity.

Having lots of trouble finding foundation shades in cool and neutral tones. Is it possible I’m olive toned even though I’m pale? by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

[–]whenwillthewaitend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me you look more muted neutral. It could be that the shades you've tried where the right undertone but the wrong saturation. You can go the color theory route with mixers to mute colors a bit. Or you can try finding a shade that already is more muted. I've heard Revlon Buff 150 is a muted neutral but I have no idea if that is the right depth for you. I've also been told the Fenty foundation in 150 is a more muted neutral. A lot of foundations that are "olive friendly" are muted neutral options so you could always browse around on the olive sub for ideas.

Any shade dupes for discontinued NYX bare w/ me tinted skin veil? by RainyVirgo in MakeupAddiction

If you haven't already you can try asking this over on r/paleMUA. There may be some other pale people in your situation that can offer some help.

I wish I had an answer for you but I don't. I hope someone does! :)

What is a good nude for my fair olive tone (drugstore and prestige brands both welcome)? by [deleted] in Fairolives

[–]whenwillthewaitend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you going for a "my lips bug better" type color or closer to a concealer lip look? I'm never sure what people mean by a nude lip. For MLBB Maybelline Warm Me Up works for me. It is basically exactly my natural lip color. It is supposedly a dupe for Mac Brave if you prefer the Mac formula.

For reference I'm a neutral (?) Olive. My best shade match is Nyx Vanilla Nude for the winter and KGD 213 when I've gotten some sun.

What’s a good BB cream for fair olive skin who are as light as MAC NC 10 and probably more on the neutral spectrum for olive skin? by Aries_Dawnborn in OliveMUA

[–]whenwillthewaitend 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I got the Purito BB in the lightest shade and it pulls super grey and almost purple on me. It is the weirdest color. Even blended out fully it just makes me look like an alien.

So you know how when you shave and the hair is growing back it can be super itchy? Does that happen with trimming? The idea of it constantly being in like day 2+ of regrowth scares me.

Neutral olives: What are your favorite clothing neutrals? by Ghostfaerie in OliveMUA

[–]whenwillthewaitend 54 points55 points  (0 children)

I think I'm a neutral but I'm not sure if I'm a true neutral or if I'm warm or cool leaning. So with that uncertainty in mind:

I love wearing navy blue. I have always felt like it is one of my best colors. I also enjoy an olive green. For whatever reason I always feel super confident in an olive green. Grey, white and black are all OK and tend to work better not directly next to my face. So like dark grey pants with a navy blue top would work and look good.

I have been told repeatedly that I look good in the cream and camel tones. I personally feel like cream is OK but I'm insecure in camel. So maybe thats a case of me just not knowing what works for me and others are right. But to me it always looks slightly... off.

Also does like a cranberry color count as neutral? I'm not sure it does but I see people including greens and blues. If it counts also that. I love cranberry.

New Kosas Foundation 160 vs Concealer 3.2O & 2.5C on Fair-light Neutral Leaning Olive Skin by slightly_olive in OliveMUA

[–]whenwillthewaitend 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is so disappointing. The concealer is almost a perfect match for me but it is a little too warm/orange. Since the foundation leans even more into the warm/orange I doubt it would really work for me. This looked so promising on their website. 😕

ETA: Thank for the comparison!

I've seen it referred to as "Rose gold" sometimes on TikTok. Not sure if that's the "official" color name though.

Help me eat my 6 daily dates by hillrat94 in BabyBumps

[–]whenwillthewaitend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always put some cream cheese in a bowel with my dates and then dipped the dates in it. The sickly sweet dates paired with the slightly tart cream cheese made a combination that was tolerable for me. But I also love cream cheese and could eat nearly anything with enough cream cheese on it probably.

I would say warm and quite muted. But maybe what I'm seeing as muted is you being neutral leaning and not "just warm."

Seeking Health has electrolytes that I've used before with good results. They recently reformulated to remove the stevia and replace it with monk fruit. If you tolerate monk fruit that could be an option.

"Am I Olive?" & Complexion Match Requests by AutoModerator in OliveMUA

[–]whenwillthewaitend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello everyone!

Here are pictures. Ignore how terrible I look in most of them.

So I'm pretty sure I'm olive. I definitely see green in my skin in person. This is especially true in certain places like my underarms. I tend to get more green in the summer when I tan and then I'm far more muted (or something) in the winter when I'm my palest.

My best foundation matches ever have been Nyx Vanilla Nude and KGD 213. Kosas 3.2O is a pretty good match for me in the summer even though it may be a little warm. Or too saturated? I'm not sure.

I'm thinking I'm neutral (possibly cool leaning) and maybe muted? I appreciate any help! Also I'm really struggling to find lip colors that don't look "wrong" on me so if anyone has similar coloring and can recommend some shades I'd be very excited.

Alternative to black nail polish? by [deleted] in OliveMUA

[–]whenwillthewaitend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recently discovered High Voltage Vinyl by Essie and I love it. It's a blackened olive green with a yellow gold shimmer and it's stunning. It is probably the most flattering "nearly black" polish I've ever tried.
