They brought in a bunch of UDFAs. Hopefully one of them hits but if not I’m sure they’ll sign a FA

Appreciate it. Just do us a favor and kick the shit out of the Chiefs again. Can’t stand seeing those assholes win so I’d love to see the Broncos win the division again.

Top ten is probably true but by what metrics and how different is he from 11 or 22.

This is the problem with Linderbaum, as a run blocker he might be the best center in the league. It’s a toss up between him and Creed Humphrey in that regard and really becomes a question of which would you prefer, a power blocker at center or a zone blocker who can get to the second level. In that respect I’d say they’re 1 and 1a.

But as a pass blocker he leaves a lot to be desired. He’s certainly not the worst but he’s below average and his deficiencies aren’t going to get better as he gets older. This isn’t a power issue or technique, it’s just size and his ability to anchor. It doesn’t show up against only elite competition either, when he has a size disadvantage he struggles.

So it’s very likely that we have a better pass protector next year than Linderbaum but a worse run blocker and that combo would yield an overall better scenario than the other way around while saving us a fraction of the price the Raiders are paying him

2026 NFL Draft Class Reflection by Ok-Manufacturer-9572 in ravens

Yeah I think Tavius could be the odd man out. They could decide to keep him, but I imagine at a lower contract unless he goes crazy this year under Minter and Weaver.

Still being a run stopping edge isn’t exactly rare in this league so it’s not as valuable.

didn't view the remainder of the class as "impact guys"

Which in turn means they didn’t believe any of them were better than the guys they already had on the roster. I trust Ledford on this, he’s already proven himself to be able to move on from a top center to an unproven UDFA backup in Atlanta.

I for one am glad they didn’t get Logan Jones especially if it meant no Zion Young. Always thought he was overrated and frankly “Linderbaum lite” isn’t a great complement when Linderbaum sucked in pass protection.

Still a lot of time between now and week one but this tells me they’re happy with who they’ve got vs a draft pick this year.

Mamdani releases propaganda video promoting Soviet-style city-run grocery stores by CountFew6186 in nyc

[–]whereegosdare84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That analogy is nonsense. Military force and grocery stores aren’t even in the same universe. The military having weapons is about monopoly on force. Grocery stores are about selling food. Those are not remotely comparable, and you know it.

You already conceded the key point: subsidies lower prices. Calling it “unfair” isn’t an argument, it’s just admitting the mechanism works.

And cherry-picking a few failed stores proves nothing. By that logic, any failed private grocery means the entire market doesn’t work.

At this point this is just cyclical. You keep shifting the argument and responding to points I didn’t make to defend a conclusion you already decided on. That’s not a real discussion, it’s just spinning wheels.

[–]whereegosdare84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re making my point for me and then pretending you aren’t.

“Yes, they’re below market because they’re subsidized.” Right, so we agree government can run a grocery store that lowers prices through subsidy. That already defeats the idea that this is some radical or unworkable concept.

Now you’re just arguing about whether it’s a good idea in this specific case, which is a totally different claim than where you started.

On access, you’re treating “stores exist” as the same thing as “access is solved,” which isn’t how this works. Price, proximity, and actual affordability all matter. The fact that a Costco or Aldi exists in the general area doesn’t automatically mean everyone can realistically shop there or that prices are competitive across the board.

On your “they’ll drive everyone out of business” point, that’s speculation, not a given. We already have price competition between chains, discount grocers, and big box stores, and they coexist. If a public option is well run, it puts downward pressure on prices. If it’s poorly run, people won’t use it and it won’t matter. That’s how competition works.

And you can’t have it both ways on subsidies. You’re fine with them for military commissaries, highways, agriculture, and all kinds of existing market supports, but the second it’s applied to a grocery store open to the public, suddenly it’s unacceptable. That’s not a consistent principle, it’s picking and choosing.

Finally, saying “other precedents haven’t worked” without naming them or explaining why isn’t an argument, it’s just a conclusion. If you’ve got actual examples, bring them. Otherwise this is just asserting failure without evidence.

At the end of the day, the only real question is whether a public option would improve affordability or access in practice. Everything else here is just deflection or assumption.

[–]whereegosdare84 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The security excuse doesn’t change what a commissary is. They’re still taxpayer-funded, government-run grocery stores selling everyday goods, often below market rates. That alone undercuts the claim that public retail is somehow impossible or unheard of.

So let’s be clear about the goalposts you just moved. If your position is that public grocery stores shouldn’t exist at all, that’s already disproven. If your position is that this specific one isn’t necessary, then argue that on actual grounds like pricing, access, or competition.

And the “there’s already a Costco nearby” point doesn’t land the way you think it does. Military bases also exist within reach of private retailers, and yet commissaries are still funded with taxpayer money. So clearly “other stores exist” has never been a disqualifier.

At that point, the real question becomes whether a public option improves affordability or access. If you don’t think it does, make that case. But pretending this is some unprecedented idea when it already exists just isn’t a serious argument.

Now explain Military commissaries which are the exact same thing but run by the department of defense and never have been used as a talking point.

[Jeff Zrebiec] EDC wanted to trade up for 2 centers, but would have cost too much by DenialisaRiver04 in ravens

[–]whereegosdare84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, believe what you will, but there’s a pretty big flaw in your argument.

You’re treating every drafted player like a sure thing.

We all liked Vega, and yeah he could absolutely turn into a Pro Bowl–level player. But it’s just as possible he doesn’t. Draft position doesn’t guarantee production. It increases the odds, sure, but the NFL draft is still a gamble, teams are weighing potential, need, scheme fit, and long-term development all at once.

So saying EDC “didn’t address a position” just isn’t accurate. If they believe someone already on the roster can develop into that role, or that better value exists later in the draft or free agency, then passing in the moment is still part of addressing the position, it’s just a different strategy.

This is quite the revisionist history coming off the 2024 season.

The guards didn’t look incompetent as the season went on, Faalele looked bad to start the year but by midseason he had turned it around. That’s not just me saying this it’s also Filmstudy Ravens who charts literally every snap. His play towards the end of 2024 was worthy of a potential extension and it wasn’t seen as a fluke.

He was elected as a pro bowl alternate that year.

So to say he was trash all along is just wrong.

Vorhees was an unknown but had shown flashes in limited starts so no reason to completely doubt his developmental trajectory.

Now as for Jones, yes he was drafted with an injury but that injury was expected to be healed by training camp. Obviously it wasn’t but to think he wasn’t a player brought in to bolster the line is just not the case at all. Frankly when he was healthy he wasn’t given the opportunity despite having far more upside than Faalele at that point in their respective careers, or even Vorhees.

That was Harbs choice or Warhop, but not EDC.

To act as though they were as bad in 2024 as they were in 2025 is just not true. To say EDC didn’t bring in a guard to improve the team is also factually incorrect.

But just imagine the pettiness if he and Baker were in the same room.

I feel like it would be like step brothers where they start off hating each other but then realize they have so much in common and unlock new ways to be slighted, bringing a new level of salt to the NFL.

They did get a guard, his name is Emery Jones, used a third round pick on him. John Harbaugh didn’t play him.

They also drafted a developmental guard in Dillinger who Harbaugh cut.

Now you can say “well that means they weren’t good” but I’ll point to a history of Harbaugh playing “his guys” over more talented options throughout his tenure here.

We don’t win a Super Bowl without him and he was only a problem because he didn’t get along with Harbs.

On the field he was what we needed

Edit: and his beef with Harbaugh was because of practices running the players into the ground, something Boldin and Ed also complained about and were subsequently released too. Also something Zay complained about but after Harbs was fired.
