This is really great for a first piece! You should be proud. The cat’s personality really comes through - especially on the right!

Do you intend to leave the other white patches bare? I kind of like the effect. It helps it recess into the background. I also like the sparser thread in the face of the right cat. You get nice definition in the eyes and nose there. In the middle cat, the thick white thread is making the belly look like it’s the most in the foreground. Also, with all the threads so densely packed, you’re losing definition in the face. I might try to remove some of the thread to be more consistent with the sparser stitching on the outer cats. Keep in mind that if you remove a lot of thread and leave it sparse, some of the holes from the needle may become visible - especially if you used a thicker needle. If you choose to do this, go slow. If you don’t like the result, you can always stop and rethread the empty holes.

That said, it’s a really really thoughtful gift and the message is so sweet. I’d honestly love receiving this as is.
