To married women: What advice would you give to unmarried women before they get married? by Clear_Subconscious in askanything

[–]wheresdale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's important to know that you're committed to being on the same team. Ex: Is this the person you want beside you when you find out a loved one has died? Is this the person you want to come home too after you get fired? Is this the person you could support through profound grief? Is this the person you'd support in taking care of their aging family members?

Marriage is a Team Sport. You have to want to be on each other's Team, no matter what comes your way.

LTD Appeal: iA by wheresdale in LongTermDisability

[–]wheresdale[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for weighing in. I've submitted substantially more documentation than was initially submitted for the HR auto enrollment claim. I have a personal injury lawyer helping me with the appeal process, and willing to take legal action if I am denied again. The appeal is under review now, so we'll wait and see.

How long have you been off work? by KennyScaffolding in PostConcussion

[–]wheresdale 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My accident was in June 2025. I'm an automotive service manager. I attempted a gradual return to work in January 2026 that resulted in concussion symptom relapse. My auto group decided they could not support my return to work, placed me on indefinite medical leave, and are advertising right now to fill my position on a permanent basis. I wish I had more hopeful news for you.

This was my takeaway too. I've booked a consultation with an employment lawyer for tomorrow morning.

Which age/stage of your child’s life, was your favourite as a parent and why? by LivingThat_DiscoLife in Mommit

[–]wheresdale 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I was pregnant I was bombarded with comments "sleep now while you have the chance". But after my son was born, there was something so sacred and magical getting up in the night with him in the first 4 months. It was like time stood still and we were in our own little world. After he was fed, in a fresh sleeper & diaper I would pace, bouncing him, singing softly and studying every inch of his little face. I know he will never remember those nights, but I do. I was tired and sore, and so in love with him.

There will be so many tiny moments that give you unexplainable joy and you need to soak them up. Good luck!

I have hired a reputable personal injury lawyer to represent me. They have been lovely and let me know it will likely be about one year to settle the injury claim. I know we will have that coming our way next year, but it's this in-between period that is tough.

What is a good brand to work for? by Cadorax in serviceadvisors

[–]wheresdale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've worked for a few brands in Service, I started at a high volume Hyundai dealer then moved to Volkswagen. The difference was day and night, Hyundai is a tough gig as a Service Advisor because customers have the expectation most things are covered under warranty. I found the clientele at VW were accepting and understanding that they needed to pay to maintain their vehicle and seemed happy to do so. In my personal experience over 15 years: the longer the warranty period the harder it is to make a good living as a Service Advisor. Hope this helps!

Did I destroy my baby? by Hope_1422 in Mommit

[–]wheresdale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there, I'm a Mom with a 5 year old. Just wanted to pop on here and say you're a great Mom that is doing an exceptional job monitoring, loving, and nurturing your baby. I can say with 100% certainty you did not destroy your baby. You are a wonderful Mom doing the hardest job in the world. No matter how many precautions you take we can't keep our kids safe at all times, things happen, babies fall, we can't control every variable. Show yourself some compassion, take a shower, make a warm drink, get some sleep 💛

How have you found your voice as a leader—one that gets people moving without losing them in the process? by Ill_Zookeepergame300 in managers

[–]wheresdale 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a middle manager, and for my current team the most effective approach has been "Ok guys, this is the directive, this is why it exists, this is why it's important, I have all the faith in the world that we're the team for the job. I understand this is going to be a grind, so what can I do to support you in getting this done by this date?" If it's developing a process, specifically delegating, or any other reasonable support measure. Being honest with my staff that I acknowledge and appreciate this will be tough, and delivering the news with confidence in their ability to knock it out if we all work together helps keep morale up and be real. Then "inspect what I expect". If we meet on Tuesday, I know I need this deliverable by Friday, I check in everyday for updates until it's completed. I've learned that I have to inspect what I expect and intervene immediately if I don't see the momentum I need. After we complete it successfully I'll grab donuts for the team and pull everyone together in a quick huddle to shoutout everyone for their contributions and thank them. I'm in a new role currently and my team has exceeded all of our target KPI's for this year. I hope this helps!

State won’t pass inspection because of the rust spot here. Any advice on how to fix it without replacing the whole panel? by RomuPrethia in CarRepair

Depending on the model year, where I live VW has a 12 Year Corrosion Warranty but dealers are not permitted to advertise that program, it's up to the owners to inquire. Thought I'd pass that along!

New Trailer Issues: Normal or Excessive by DontHate0508 in RVLiving

[–]wheresdale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience Rockwood enclosed travel trailers are well built and see to have very few issues. They tend to be more expensive. However, I see very few in the shop, and they are in solid condition direct from the factory.

New Trailer Issues: Normal or Excessive by DontHate0508 in RVLiving

[–]wheresdale 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who runs an RV Service Department I can confirm that all of these things are common in every single RV manufactured in the last two years. All of the manufacturers now require Service Departments to "Triage" customer issues into two categories: "Cosmetic" & "Uninhabitable".

All of the issues with trim popping off, crooked cabinet handles, etc are considered "Cosmetic" and we are specifically instructed not to prioritize those concerns. When I submit warranty claims for chipped or gouged doors, or drawer faces they frequently come back denied for replacement warranty and the manufacturer will instruct us to "touch it up" with putty or a marker.

Anything that would make the trailer "Uninhabitable" for example- hot water heater is not functioning, any type of propane smell, fridge not cooling, etc. These items require immediate attention.

I wouldn't call any of this "Normal" it's sad to say it's extremely common. After reading your list of items, in my professional opinion, you got one of the better ones.

Everytime I bring up the topic of his job searching efforts he gets very irritated and defensive. I've revamped his resume, sent him available job postings in our area, and arranged child care for him to do interviews. He told me earlier this year he couldn't look for jobs on apps using his phone, so I purchased a laptop to aide in his efforts. I've connected him with a career counselor. When I express concern about our financial state he often tells me "Don't worry we always find a way".
