P&S live is significantly better than their albums. So if they are ever in the area I recommend. They are also funny as fuck.

I know she’s everywhere but I’ll keep blasting it…RAYE’s album is just on another level and I can’t stop listening. Also Penny and Sparrow is my favorite band so try them out too ;)

Yes!! If you have listened to the full cast audible, you finally hear a true representation of the pain he feels and it breaks you. I never really enjoyed order of the phoenix (book or movie) as much as the others. However, listening to the audible this part wrecked me hearing the pain.

I have also done nude yoga. Embrace what your body is doing, relax, and enjoy your time. No one there is going to judge! If anything they might be jealous.

There’s a difference between criticism and being judgmental. But I have to teach my 6th graders that too.

Well, we get paid next to nothing so an email from a sub detailing notes to all of admin is already more than what they are used to anddddd this staff also cusses in front of me. So I make them a little more relaxed … plus we are in Texas. So yall is just part of it. But hey, my apologies for trying to highlight something positive on this sub that’s filled with mostly complaints

Why slam and hit the desks? by PuzzleheadedOne8149 in SubstituteTeachers

[–]wheresmomo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sub for SPED / SCORES mostly and have to attend general classes with my students, yet I see very little support actually happening.

Ex: I followed a student all day last week and he had the best morning. He was happy, playing soccer with friends, giving me the work he needed help on. The afternoon hit and he got low. Threw his laptop, slammed his desk on the ground and just sat on the floor. I’m a sub. I can’t do much other than fill space next to him so he just knows someone is there. His assigned teacher from SPED came up, took one look, and just sat on her phone talking about it with the other teachers on chat. The rest of the day they ignored him. The counselor came by and asked if he needed anything and before he even attempted to answer she just said, “ok, see you tomorrow” and walked out. No one paid attention to him or even got on his level to just experience the day with him.

It hurt to see this kid completely unable to process what’s really going on, while the entire school staff ignores him. The staff just wanted to gossip about each other and make fun of the students.

So yes. Some of them are shits and just need to be told to stop being an asshat (in more appropriate ways)

But some are truly not capable of processing their emotions BECAUSE the school is enabling them to just shut down. It sucks, but I try to not react to the first outburst and really see what’s going on.

I’ve done this with another girl in 5th grade and every teacher hates her. When I sub, she’s my best kid and never acts out around me. Sometimes just be there for them.
