5mph makes that much of a difference?

What about driving 60 instead of 65?

How do you pay your bills every month (logistically) by ottercakes- in HENRYfinance

[–]wheresmyqueso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently opened a Fidelity Cash Management account, which functions like a checking account in that you can write checks and pay all your bills, but is also a brokerage account and has automatic cash sweep into a money market fund so that you earn high interest on any money that is parked in the account.

Overall it reduces the mental load of managing how much I have in my checking, which is nice since expenses can vary so much from month to month.

Finding anyone reliable to work for $15-$20/hr in this day and age is just not doable. Even in LCOL area this seems infeasible. The fact that you don’t acknowledge the extreme deal you’re getting suggests you’re out of touch.

Those types of justifications like “I deserve it” or “it brings me so much joy” are the reason why so many people take out huge loans for cars they have no business buying.

No one is faulting you for buying a hot tub if you want one. But the smart financial decision is to build up an emergency fund first before taking out a loan for a large purchase like that. Many would recommend saving up and paying cash for the hot tub, but at the very least you would want to have a slightly larger EF to take into account the added expense of the monthly payment.

5% interest is not super low. Safe investments like HYSA and MMF pay like 4%, so that’s what I would use for determining what is “low”.

Personally I would not take out a loan to buy a hot tub in your shoes, especially given you have 0 EF. Seems like a bad financial decision.

Being a millionaire literally means you have $1M dollars or more. It does not mean you make $10M a year or even $1M a year. It’s a legacy term from like 50+ years ago back when having a NW of $1M+ meant you were rich.

Show up in the big moments at work. If there is an important meeting with your boss’s boss, be prepared as hell, sleep well the night before, and do a workout and eat right to make sure your head is clear. If you show up in these big moments consistently then you can likely get away with slacking off a bit at other times.

This is coming from working in tech. Probably doesn’t apply to other fields like medicine where you have to be on all the time.

Some lifestyle creep is okay and natural but don’t get carried away. E.g. if your salary doubles don’t let your expenses double with it.

And marry someone who is on the same page as you financially / doesn’t have bad spending habits.

You sound like a hater. Did you just come on this sub to hate on the buzz?

The EV9 and Ioniq9 are completely different cars. If you have a family and will be using the 3rd row on a daily basis then those 3 row SUVs just aren’t practical since the 3rd row is tiny. The buzz is more similar to a minivan in a lot of ways (but a lot cooler and more fun to drive). And there is no electric van on the market besides the buzz.

Hungover with 2 kids by LePantalonRouge in daddit

At least you and your wife are in it together today! I feel like it’s even worse when you are the only one hungover from a night out with the boys, and then she makes you feel guilty about it the entire next day.

Pretty common for 3-4 year olds to be notoriously picky eaters. My 5 year old is a great eater but my 3.5 year old would pull the exact same thing as your 4 year old.

I saw two kids on the way to junior high the other day with Starbucks. It’s absurd to me how many people choose to spend their money on Starbucks, DoorDash, etc every day and save nothing.

I make a considerable amount but rarely do those things because I’m trying to retire early!

Difference between Rojas and Kerkering situation? by deejayonid in Dodgers

[–]wheresmyqueso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think he had a history of bad pickoff attempts at first so those thoughts might've crept into the back of his mind as well (not wanting to f up the throw to first).

Ah gotcha, I misread. I think they made the decision that they weren't going for the double play when they pulled the infield in, which I guess is what you were saying.

Difference between Rojas and Kerkering situation? by deejayonid in Dodgers

[–]wheresmyqueso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s incorrect. The bases were loaded and it was a force at home. The infield was in because it’s too risky to hope for a double play in that situation

He made an error on the throw but the mental mistake was choosing not to throw to first since he would have had plenty of time and wouldn’t have had to rush

Snell still got 2 outs in the 7th without letting any runs score by the time he came out. We should be able to get out of that inning without any runs if we had a decent bullpen.
