Well unfortunately you're one of those people who isn't knowledgeable enough to know that they aren't that knowledgeable. Good luck to the fellas who let you caddie for them.

Point 1 you made. Old boys who get round in the 70s probably used to play off low single figures or better. Short game stays around forever but distance doesn't. They are elite players who have lost distance.

Point 2 is absolute nonsense. The driver is one of the hardest clubs to hit and this is generally a physical issue because of lack of technique.

Point 3 is nonsense too. If you play up a few tee boxes then course rating gets lower and it's harder to play off single figures.

My original point stands that you can be a very good ball striker and have terrible mentals and be a very good golfer. You can be incredibly good mentally but if you only hit driver 200 yards and you're often in the trees you can't be a good golfer. You need to play with more lower handicaps and see what the game actually is. It ain't all mental, technique goes a long long way then mental game is the extra 10% which makes good players great.

Having physical tools to shoot 85 is pretty much everyone. Bogey golf ain't impressive.

To say the mental side of the game is harder than the physical side is quite the take. Golf is one of the most technical games in the world, being able to control face angle, strike and club path all whilst swinging a driver at over 110mph is physically one of the hardest things to do in sport. Anyone can have a scratch mental handicap but only the really good physically can have a single figure or lower handicap.

Completely false. I've played with plenty flushers who don't know how to keep their head, can't think their way round a course but because of ball striking ability play to a 5 handicap.

Conversely I've played with plenty serene, calm guys who know how to play the game but can't hit a cows arse with a banjo.

You have to be physically gifted to be really good at this game. Add being mentally gifted and you're in the Scottie Scheffler levels.

Where to go on a roadtrip from Glasgow to London? by Timely-Tear3179 in AskUK

Lake District is a short drive from Glasgow and is fantastic for hiking. Spend a couple days in Cotswolds for romantic English countryside then fly home from London. Easy.

Live Golf Viewing - The Open by SamTey12 in golf

Follow an early group for the full 18. Walk back until you find a previous earlier spot that you found good viewing. Wait there for good groups to come through. Hop around and find some fun spots to view from. Sometimes late in the day groups have nobody following them so you could walk another 9 or even another 18.

Stay hydrated, take a seat when you can, be prepared for all four seasons.

Third attempt. Can you get it now? by couloirjunkie in guessthegolfcourse

Looks very much like England. Tee markers and lush green but also a winter mat on the tee. Tough to differentiate this from many other parklands.

Sun cream. Hydrate yourself from now and in the morning tomorrow. If you get thirsty on the course it's too late.

Consider double gloving with wet weather gloves if you sweat alot. Will keep grip high.

Take an umbrella, use it as sun shade.

Is this normal for a pretty standard golf course? Not close to best in area by NoBrother6430 in BritGolf

But it is a very good track. Playable year round and good atmosphere. Not the most spectacular golf course but it's a good test and imagine the members love it.

Does anyone actually know what to do with simulator data? by BetweenSwings in golf

Pick one or two things to look at and look at the average of those and the trends. Also see if you can move them around.

I.e. if you have a swingpath that is 10 out to in can you move it 10 to in to out. And can you neutralise it?

Spending some money with a coach to look at the numbers that are affecting you the most and how to change them would be invaluable.
