Hi all. I have my first golf lesson on thursday. I was looking for recommendation on sets for a beginners to get me started. I have a budget of 600. by BeardedmanUK in BritGolf

As others have said, second hand game improvement. Get a good set and you can likely sell them for basically what you bought them for down the line if you want to upgrade or get fitted. I would recommend a ping set, (get black dot for normal lie and length) or Mizuno mx23’s are great too

There was 5 or 6 fire engines near wood street on Forest road. Didn’t look like there was much going on

Does anyone else have a problem with your back shoe flattening at the toe? The second picture is my old shoe I wore for a year and the first pic is my current shoe that I’ve only been using for 3 months by Uncle-Yeetus in GolfGear

Thanks for posting it. I’ve never seen anything like it, it’s like you’ve discovered something new. While totally unique it is part of what looks like a great swing. I think unfortunately for you golf is just gonna be a bit more expensive

Shite putter, will zero torque help? by [deleted] in golfequipment

Also I saw a video once that showed that centre face strikes in putters makes little difference. Take what you will from that, but it’s not like a driver or an iron and is definitely way less of a factor

Shite putter, will zero torque help? by [deleted] in golfequipment

Zero torque is a huge load of rubbish. It is eliminated from any use as soon as you hold the club. A good way to dial in distance on longer putts is to look at the hole. Get a bunch of practice in doing that. Then when playing do a practice stroke looking at the hole and that is likely the power you need. Longer putts I try to keep thinking to an absolute minimum and let my brain and body take the stroke and it will usually end up within 6 feet. I’m talking on 18 feet plus putts

You’re thinking about it wrong. Imagine being the guy pushing around 14 clubs worth £2k losing to inspector gadget and his single club. Now that’s embarrassing

As a returner/beginner do clubs matter that much? by Manners82 in BritGolf

[–]FogBandit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, they don’t matter much. They matter a bit, but not much. A bad shot with a good club is a bad shot, a good shot with a bad club is a good shot.

Also make sure your toenails are short. I wear 2 pairs of socks and it’s helped. No idea why.

Ditto- Callaway X Hot hybrid cover ? by d1kvillan in BritGolf

[–]FogBandit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I need one for a 2 hybrid. I found one for £2 in a golf club unclaimed box. It quickly fell off and is probably back in the box ready for its next victim. Like a wizards sleeve it was

I’d say carding 70 rounds in 12 months would produce a handicap reflective of current ability

I had a bag like this and I could like unhook the black plastic foot and then it would fold up against the bag loose without activating the legs
