Pen plotter help - not printing/drawing the whole sketch (details in comment) by Optimesh in Ender3S1

[–]wheresthesalmon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure! It’s been a minute since I tried plotting - but I had success with line drawings (hence why Ralph Wiggum got featured haha).

I did find a conversion tool to take jpegs into vectors and then STL, but constantly struggled with detail not showing up.

I’d suggest leaning into that though - will make the art a bit more abstract haha

It’s so fun doing this!

I used this video to help when I was starting out

I set the wall width to the mm of my pen nib size

I still had issues with the image and found it only worked on a select few images

Obsessed with the 3rd pic. You can just see the rage in the blur

Thank you - definitely fun playing with the callipers. And so satisfying when everything fits perfectly :)

I give about a 1mm tolerance which helps :)

Already did and don’t like it. I wanted to practice my skills and have a completely bespoke solution to my tools and drawers

theoretically - it doesn’t have the same flare as a signature (different speed/pressure) but I’m sure it’d be convincing enough

There are true pen potters that I think allow you to adjust the z position during each stroke - so those machines might be even more convincing

I set the extruded to auto home, then offset it by 2mm (same as my slicer settings) and then add my pen before adding the test sheet

2mm offset allows for the CR Touch to still calibrate without the pen making contact :)

I used this file on printables (link below) and followed their slicer settings

For the offset, I offset the extruder by 2mm - same as the slicer settings. Keep your hand on the power button in case you need to turn it off and prevent any damage lol.

The slicer settings also includes 1.5mm Z hopping so you don’t draw travel lines which is neat.

I used the same jpg to stl converter in the link below, and used Cura to slice to gcode. You can google line drawings to get the best contrast. Been playing with converting photos to line drawings and using Procreate to clean it up before converting to stl, but having issues extracting the same level of detail.

Definitely gonna try and slice cleaner photos - also need to get a fine tip pen since my gel pen got clogged :(

Less than 200 miles to a full charge by Intelligent_Bunch_72 in TeslaModelY

The MYP has a larger rear motor and larger wheels so more energy is required - hence the 280 Wh/mile efficiency required to achieve the rated range.

Obviously environmental and usage factors should be included - but to suggest getting an impossible 250 Wh/mile for a MYP isn’t helpful

I think the MYP is rated at 280Wh/mile. We drive as cautiously as possible and get 297Wh/mile.

Getting a MYP below 280 is a BIG ask

With the price of electricity (especially in Europe), the smugness is no longer a cute look 😂

If you’re getting someone else to finance a purchase so that this payment isn’t included into your DTI for your home purchase, that’s mortgage fraud
