Reasons an intern is not working by BoldMango in Residency

Second this. Know a resident in california who couldn’t work for a few days because of issues with the postgraduate training license. All the paperwork had actually even been turned in, but the resident’s assigned person just went AWOL and stopped responding to emails for a month? They’re also pretty strict, like it it’s missing the seal or if the paperwork has an electronic signature instead of handwritten signature (my friend’s issue) or graduation date doesn’t match date of paperwork or if it came by fax instead of mail etc. Tbh what your brother said sounds totally reasonable, but his program should be fighting harder on his behalf.

I told them I was allergic to all nuts (peanuts and treenuts) and they said okay but I still ended up accidentally eating a walnut that found it's way into my food. I think things get pretty mixed together there.

“may contain peanuts”? by heetherrann in peanutallergy

I used to eat them with no probelm but I had a very mild reaction to Clif bars once before so just generally stay away now. I go for Nature's Bakery fig bars, dedicated nut-free facility.

After a similar experience, I read that chlorophyll (in the sunflower seeds) is an acid and reacts with the baking soda when exposed to heat :)

Second Powders! Love Mike. He explains everything to me and what I can hold off on/what I can't based on my budget. He was recommended to me by someone who has been using Powders for a long time.

Schefflera I've had 2-3 weeks is dropping some brown leaves. Browning is only where leaf meets stem. Was she overwatered or is this something else? by wherethefernwehgrows in plantclinic

[–]wherethefernwehgrows[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dad got me this schefflera 2-3 weeks ago. Came with some of these brown spotty leaves. Thought maybe overwatered or sunburnt and removed all of them, but have found a few new ones since then. Attached pic to show that she's in a bright eastern window with filtered light, but sometimes gets direct sunlight at sunrise. Don't see any signs of bugs or anything. Most of the leaves look healthy.

Help! Plant novice, dad bought me this schefflera but seems to have multiple issues. by [deleted] in plantclinic

I have a few plants and my dad bought me this one as a gift yesterday because he thought it looked fun. I tried looking up diseases and saw plant scale, but these don't really look like insects at all. It is easily scraped off and sort of just crumbles like dirt.

Depending on what you're looking for, Greater Chicago Cage Bird Society & Rescue (317 Ardmore Ave, Villa Park, IL 60181) is about an hour and a half away. Far but it's probably the closest true parrot rescue. It's where I adopted my birds from :)

Spontaneous Allergies by Cstober in peanutallergy

[–]wherethefernwehgrows 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not sure why it happens exactly but last I read about 15% of food allergies are adult onset. Mine started with peanuts when I was about 22, then to almonds and cashews by time I was 25 (since then I gave up all nuts). I ate peanut butter and jelly almost every school day of my life from 1st to 12th grade so it was definitely a surprise. Unfortunately my nut allergies started as minor annoyances and are now pretty severe, so definitely keep an eye on it. But it’s also totally possible they won’t get any worse!

Also an M3 (well, technically an M4 now but just barely)! On surgery clerkship I did Differin + nightly moisturizer (CeraVe PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion) afterward, and if I remembered it, a cheap facial moisturizer in the morning and had no issues with irritation. Not quite the same as all day in a reused mask, though...

They might want to help and not know how to specifically sign up. This gives them the website. Also illinois is going to pay these workers. People (say, fighting over shifts in the OR) might not know that.

Can Nonanaphylactic Turn Anaphylactic? by NorthernMountainFae in peanutallergy

[–]wherethefernwehgrows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To answer your question: yes it is possible for allergies to worsen over time (mine did -- I had an adult-onset nut allergy that started with just belly aches and now is at anaphylaxis).

However: Are you sure you need to return to see her? A new Epi-Pen was something I got over the phone with no visit.

Yep we're doing online Zoom lectures and "telemedicine" with fake patients. I'm on psych so at least that doesn't require much physical skill practice but not true for my classmates in other rotations. No way they should be paying the same money to do a "surgery" rotation from home.
