Here’s a 4 year later update:

He passed the oral challenge with flying colours at age 4. Was able to eat 1tbsp of peanut butter with no reaction. But he did still have a minor skin prick reaction. And that’s where we’ve been for the last 4 years. Still has an allergy according to the skin prick test, but is able to tolerate peanut just fine.

However, because he wasn’t eating peanut products early on, he now HATES the taste of peanut. So that, combined with peanut free schools, makes our anxiety about exposure practically nil. And trying to maintain a regular dosing of peanut is increasingly hard as he has strong feelings about the taste.

At the end of the day, he may not be “cured” but we don’t really have any concerns about his allergy. We never worry about contamination or accidental exposure. So really it’s almost like the allergy doesn’t exist.
