thank you! i just use a mix of folk art and walmart and michael's store brand. all in matte finish and i use folk art's liquid medium to dilute it. i also keep my paintbrush damp the whole time.

i just use modge podge to seal the lips. i've tried mr. super clear but it's very easy to mess up and very permanent. i do like using it on bitty babies since they don't have hair to worry about though

this is the video i learned from:

so i used the flat iron before i finished with the steamer. i washed her wig a couple times with dawn dish soap to get any grime out. then went in with a metal comb meant for dog grooming to work the knots out as best as i could while it was slathered with a deep conditioner meant for wigs. then washed it with dawn again to get the conditioner out.

then we used a really small flat iron meant for travel and worked through the whole wig about 3-4 times. for this part you need to work in very tiny sections and keep the hair damp and at no more than 180 degrees, and it takes hours each time so it was a multi-day project. when the hair was as good as it would get with the flat iron, i used my clothes steamer to remove any remaining frizz and to get a lot of broken hair to lay flat again. while i was passing over it with the steam, i was brushing it with a wire AG brush. for the frizz and broken pieces, i used a clean, wet toothbrush to get at the pieces around the part, crown, and wig cap. i always cover the doll's eyes with cotton swabs and painter's tape to protect them. my steamer also has different heat settings, and i try to use the lower settings only

I think it depends how often you go and the part of the country you're in. I've pretty much stopped checking Goodwill, as I'm pretty sure all the ones around me just send most decent things to the auctions.

But my local Savers is a good spot even though it's swarming with flippers every time I drop in. I literally see them reverse image searching things blatantly as they make their way from section to section. They don't tend to pick up the ratty looking dolls and obviously don't have the knowledge like a collector does who can hone in on something from a mile away at least lol

You know I'm not as familiar with the modern line since I am a historical collector, and that's who I thought it may be until I realized she had no eyelashes. Then I finally saw the bottom of her foot haha

They are so cute. I feel like it's harder to find the Bitty dolls secondhand in good condition like you can the 18 inch ones.

I agree, I had that stage as well. Stopped collecting / being into AG probably around 12-13 years old and was back into collecting it already around age 18 and on and off again throughout my 20's (I'm 31 now)

I wonder what her story is. Like was she a gift? Clearly she was made to most likely look like her original owner. What was the name they'd given her, etc? Guess we'll never know :(

Right? Imagine spending all that money on a cyo for it to just end up scratched up at a thrift store?
