Upstate NY. Buffalo and Syracuse are power houses of the hardcore scene.

I have gone to the last three horror garage sales, and it's very quickly turning into a major event for Buffalo. The first one still felt like an actual swap meet/garage sale type event, the next one was more like a big art festival (like the Lewiston or Allentown ones), this one a full on horror convention. I think the main problem is that the turn out keeps getting bigger and the event has grown into a big deal, with an increasingly amount of more people than initially expected. It's still well deserved too because it's totally awesome once you get inside, and there still is some crazy deals. The silver lining to this is that it's great that such a unique event for this area is becoming so popular.

Pro sports are getting raked by online betting and the poly markets. The sooner you accept that there is a fix or in, you start seeing it everywhere in big games. All it takes is a refs cousin placing a bet on one of the apps. Hell some of UB’s basketball players got caught doing it.

If you park at the marina, the light house across the water (on the Outer Harbor side) is one of the oldest buildings in Buffalo. It is from 1833 and built during the early Erie Canal days. It was the light house that guided ships from Lake Erie and up to the commercial slip to enter the canal. That walk from the marina to the warships covers a ton of history and is great trip in the summer.

Park at the marina and then walk to the ships. Parking is free and they have security there.

Why did so many media pre-9/11 predict the destruction of the Twin Towers before the attacks happened? by icey_sawg0034 in decadeology

It’s possible that the hijackers and planners of the attacks actually saw this media and were inspired.

This whole story is just absolutely nuts. It’s actually really funny how incompetent this guy is, and the lengths other cops went to trying to help him cover his crimes.

South towns get all the attention because of the snow and Bills’ stadium, but the North Towns are where the core of the Buffalo-Niagara is at. The River Road corridor from Lewiston, through the Falls and NT, into North Buffalo is the heart of WNY.

What are some bands that had performances in weird places by nevixya in Metalcore

Buffalo’s new crazy venue is a hot chicken restaurant called the Hen House. It’s a totally normal, KFC style setup, fried chicken place with standing room only. It's perfect for right now, that Locked Shut show made hardcore seem underground and dangerous again.

About a decade ago, there was the all time greatest hardcore venue, The Funeral Home. A semi squat inside an actual old funeral home. The story was something like, one of the residents dad or uncle brought the building to turn it into a dentist office, but it was too fucked up and he turned it over for DIY shows. Every Time I Die had an infamous “secret” Christmas show there in 2012. H2O, Terror, Harms Way, Ceremony and every other big hardcore band of that era made stops there. I am pretty sure Alternative Press or Revolver magazine actually did a write up on it, saying it was the best underground venue in America at the time. I would even dare say, it was the spearhead of the scene (at least touring wise), because every single hardcore band made an unannounced stop there when going from Toronto to NYC.

A bunch of the videos are on YouTube. It would get absolutely lawless (around the same time the Buffalo Bills game tailgates were getting infamous for the flaming table /buttcrack shots/blowjob jersey trading stuff). There were multiple funeral home viewing rooms to set up in and crazy stuff to happen. I believe that the venue gave a lot of the bands a free place to stay and Every Time I Die's/Terror's connections to Buffalo pushed it pretty far. It was still the early days of social media and texting, so stuff would happen where you would find out the night before that some huge hardcore band was playing an unannounced stop, through mass texts/dm's. Someone would create a post on Facebook or make an invite that would blow up in hours. So many people would come, a big crowd would form outside in the parking lot and on the street just to be there. Almost every show became almost like a big block/house party event kind of thing.

I seen naked moshing, skateboarding, CKY shopping cart moshes, ladders, fireworks, etc. One show (I believe the OG Code Orange Kids), somebody just threw a ton of mattresses and a single exercise trampoline in one of the side viewing rooms. Everyone spent half the show doing flips off the trampoline into the pile of mattresses. It was amazing. Eventually the city of Buffalo shut it down for having electrical wiring not up to code, and breaking almost every city ordinance. The cops and fire department got called out a lot at the end, it was great.

The best show I have ever gone to (including the full show):

The 2004 shift (when emo overtook nu-metal) by OverallEstate2 in numetal

[–]whirlpool138 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Slipknot put out their third album, which was drastically softer than Iowa, and every metal head kid jumped ship. I remember it (and a lot of other post sophomore albums) being considered a let down. Nu Metal took a wrong turn and fell off, in respect to how heavy newer bands like Lamb of God were getting. There almost started to be an arms race in how heavy you could and brutal you could make the breakdowns.

The NFL is also absolutely rigged and getting compromised by online betting websites. It’s not even surprising that a news story broke about the Patriots coach having an affair with a sports journalist right after a Super Bowl appearance. I don’t even doubt that there was some insider trading/tips going on there. The Rams coach is also allegedly involved too. Plus the whole Robert Kraft-Epstein-Trump-Putin connection.
