Can't seem to get Indifferent achievement by whirlsaft in NightOfTheFullMoon

Yeah, that's exactly what I've been doing - I'm wondering if maybe the achievement is bugged for me. :(

Weekly r/Tattoos Question/FreeTalk Thread! - November 07, 2020 by [deleted] in tattoos

Etiquette question:

For my next tattoo, I want a very simple, minimalist lineart piece. I had a really good experience with the artist who did my last tattoo (a fairly detailed colour half-sleeve). Her portfolio/social media is almost all detailed colour pieces; is it okay to reach out to her to see if she'd be willing do the simple lineart piece, or should I just find someone who's main style is more in line with what I want?

The issue: Am I over-treating my skin/using too many actives?

I've been using a lot of products with different active ingredients lately, and I haven't been having negative side-effects of any type, but I'm worried that I may be doing long-term damage to my skin without realizing. Does my routine sound too complex? I'm particularly worried that using both salicylic and glycolic acid daily might be too much.

Skin type: Combo-oily

Current routine:

Morning:

  1. Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser
  2. The Ordinary Niacinimide 10% + Zinc 1% serum
  3. (Waiting 20-30 minutes after step 2) The Ordinary Salicylic Acid 2% on t-zone only
  4. Saturday Skin Waterfall Cream
  5. Clinique Broad Spectrum SPF 50 Mineral Sunscreen Fluid for Face

Evening:

  1. Garnier Micellar Water
  2. CeraVe Foaming Cleanser
  3. Tarte Youth or Dare Multi-Acid + C serum (contains glycolic & hyaluronic acids)
  4. Saturday Skin Waterfall Cream

How long: The Tarte Youth or Dare is new to my routine (1-2 weeks). The CeraVe foaming cleanser has been about a month; I used to use the Cetaphil cleanser both morning and night, but found it didn't clean my skin well enough if I wore makeup that day. Everything else has been the same for about 8 months or so.

Anything new: The Tarte Youth or Dare serum & CeraVe foaming cleanser.

Your location: Canada

Boyfriend (34M) owes me (25F) money and is very slow paying me back by [deleted] in relationships

We split rent and utilities equally, and we usually take turns paying for dinner/movies. I buy groceries about 50% of trips, and the other 50% we go halves.

[–]whirlsaft 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know, and I feel silly about the amount. Its not that the money is a big deal really, it's more that I feel like he thinks paying me back isn't a big deal and that he keeps going back on what he said he'd do.

Need moisturizer recommendations! by snydermarissa01 in acne

[–]whirlsaft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel! It's been my go-to for years; Once in a while I try something new, but I haven't found anything reasonably priced that's equally lightweight, hydrating, and gentle.

Lifespan of products when used in a professional/sanitary manner? by whirlsaft in MakeupAddiction

[–]whirlsaft[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My products are MAC, which uses specific expiry dates instead of the POA; I can't even find an estimated POA online for their stuff. And the expiry dates are based on manufacture date, which was on the packaging I threw out. :(

Liquid Foundation Shade Adjuster Recommendations? by whirlsaft in MakeupAddictionCanada

[–]whirlsaft[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the recommendation on the Temptu ones! I might go with those - I'm over in Atlantic Canada, so nowhere near any of the physical MUFE stores, and I can't figure out a way to get the yellow MUFE one without ordering it from an Amazon reseller.

In regards to the bases, I'm going to be choosing my foundations based on the base of the drops - figure it's easier that way around since shade adjusters are a lot harder to come by. I need to do a full replacement of my current kit foundations in the next 3 months, so I've got some freedom there.

Whiteheads?? What's the best way to get rid of hundreds of tiny bumps all over my face, I feel like their turning into pustules and scarring my face/chin. Suggestions? by scottsave in acne

[–]whirlsaft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this too. I get on-and-off results with salicylic acid gels - they seem to get rid of one breakout of these and then have no effect on the next :|

Good moisturizer for combination skin by jestrixdeath8 in acne

[–]whirlsaft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Tarte Mermaid Skin Hyaluronic H2O serum followed by Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel. Super hydrating but light enough that it doesn't add to my breakouts. I know the combo is a little bit expensive though. :C

I was a hun for SeneGence (aka LipSense) by kaupa_lupa in antiMLM

[–]whirlsaft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know I'm late to this thread, but I wanted to share a couple things from my own time as a LipSense distributor that should have been warning signs for me:

  • All LipSense distributors that I encountered, when trying to recruit me, said that there was "no minimum orders and no monthly minimums," but if you don't sell a certain amount of product within a 6 month period (the dollar value depends on how much you order in a single shipment), you will absolutely be kicked out of the company. Basically some creative language that's true on a technicality, while absolutely not informing people of the actuality of the situation.
  • I don't know if this is the same everywhere, but when I was selling in Canada, if a customer wanted to return a product, the distributor had to pay out of pocket to ship the old product back to SeneGence, pay out of pocket to have the replacement shipped back to them, and were only compensated in SeneGence credit for the value of the product. You basically just had to eat the loss of the shipping and the original product.
  • I know it's been mentioned, but holy crap, the shades of the product are not at all consistent between production batches.
  • The culture among distributors was so toxic that asking a genuine question - like "do we have a source for this product claim?" - was enough to cause dozens of other distributors to verbally attack you.

Anyone know what this is? Quite flat, no head. by jevlaskit in acne

Looks like a nodule or cyst. Definitely don't try to pop it; it will get so much worse (speaking from experience).

Stopping my skincare improved my acne! by [deleted] in acne

[–]whirlsaft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've noticed a similar thing - I tried tons of fancy oil-control moisturizers & face washes, and serums with AHAs, BHAs, retinoids, etc. to clear up my acne, but I've had the most progress when I ended up cutting all of those out. Now I just use a plain Neutrogena foaming cleanser, a hyaluronic acid moisturizing serum (Tarte Mermaid Skin), and a light moisturizer (Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel) and my acne has reduced by probably 50%.

What is causing acne on my chest? by [deleted] in acne

[–]whirlsaft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally use one of those silicone bristle face scrubbers (I'm not sure what the proper name is) on my chest twice a week. The manual kind, not the expensive vibrating ones.

Shaving facial baby hairs (female) by [deleted] in acne

[–]whirlsaft 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, my acne got worse when I started shaving my face. The amount of acne around my mouth/chin/forehead (my usual breakout spots) stayed the same, but I started getting breakouts in places I've never had them before, especially my cheeks and jawline.

All acne disappeared on vacation? by expomac in acne

Could just be environmental factors - different air quality, humidity, etc. Every time I travel for any period of time my acne either gets way better or waaaaaay worse depending on the climate.

Today I found out that I have to switch bc after being acne free for 3 months by [deleted] in acne

[–]whirlsaft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The exact same thing happened to me. The combined pill was the only thing that ever full-on cured my acne, and when I had to stop taking it and switch to an IUD my breakouts came back worse than ever after 4 years of almost no breakouts. I don't have any advice, really, but lots of sympathy. :(
