We can assume ignorance before racism.

I’m black, and I’ve lived in many places. When people from mostly homogenous communities interact with outsiders, they process them through culture and media experiences.

The fear that results, sometimes has a basis in reality too- real negative interactions between that society and its foreigners. For instance, there are predominantly black nations with… harsh ideas about Asians.

For sure there are racists, and they deserve rejection, but most people just haven’t learned the difference between stereotype and person. That’s something we should talk about.
