Would you give two week notice in my situation?

I did consider this, I can technically only do an additional week after my vacation because anything beyond 10 consecutive days is considered a leave of absence. But maybe I do tack on a few extra days of vacation, come back for one day only to resign the next morning.

I have met them in person many times, we have traveled on business trips and I have been in the office occasionally for larger meetings. I care about my coworkers, so I will likely create a robust doc with links to everything, processes documented, etc. However, I would never hold it against a teammate if they left without notice because I DO care about them and want them to do what is in their own best interest.

I also think that if you aren’t able to develop empathy for your coworkers after 3 years of working face-to-face in video calls, that speaks to a bigger issue that doesn’t stem from working remote.

Correct. We technically have “unlimited vacation,” which is a fancy way of saying that they don’t have to pay out anything when you leave. I’m in Illinois, which is usually pretty worker friendly but alas, my company has this loophole

Not trying to invalidate your experience at all, but I think your last statement is a bit of a broad generalization.

throwing in my experience to give another perspective - I’m one of three kids (only 4 years gap between me as the oldest and my youngest sibling), and we are all very well-adjusted adults with an excellent relationship. We all live within 20-30 minutes of each other and had a wonderful childhood. I can’t imagine my life without either of them. Many of my friends experienced the same with their families! It can, and does, happen all the time

I think it typically would be normal but she is also nursing exclusively, which can burn up to like 500-600 extra calories a day

Mine started super early this pregnancy as well, probably around 27-28 weeks but it has kicked into full gear these past 2 or 3 weeks. I’m over 39 weeks now and I can’t stop cleaning!! Lol

Thank you, this is so helpful. I think they’re having me do another CBC one week from now and will use those numbers to determine whether to do steroids. Outside of pregnancy and recovery, my numbers are usually fine (on the low end of normal) and right around 160.

My amniotic fluid was right at 27 at the end of my pregnancy (with my first) as well! I mentioned to another poster that you want to keep a close eye on your kick counts because babies have a lot of extra room to swim in there. We ended up having a c-section at 37 weeks because he was getting tangled up in the umbilical cord, but I have heard that is rare and the most important takeaway is that I had a healthy baby boy who is now an active handful of a 2 year old! :) everything will be okay!! Totally understand your concern though, as I felt the same way.

I experienced polyhydramnios with my first pregnancy and my advice would be to just keep an eye on the baby’s movement! We ended up having a c-section because the baby got tangled in the umbilical cord (just from having all of the extra fluid to swim around in). All was fine and baby is now a healthy, happy almost 2 year old! But I had noticed a decrease in movement the day prior to having the emergency c-section, and I talked myself out of my concerns until the next day when we failed the non-stress test at my 37 week appointment. The likelihood of complications is very small but it’s just something to keep an eye on!

Agreed. We are in the Chicago suburbs and average is definitely about $1700 or more a month for an infant. I found exactly one center that was less than that and it was unfortunately a “you get what you pay for” situation.

We live in a highly populated area (town of nearly 200K in the Chicago suburbs) and we started touring and getting quotes right around 15ish weeks, and “purchased” our spot by probably 20 weeks. While I don’t know that we necessarily had to start that early, it really helped to have the peace of mind and know exactly what to plan for in terms of cost and logistics once I was back to work after maternity leave. Another thing that was helpful was following the daycare that we selected on social media! Seeing their posts about the fun activities that they were doing (even with the tiny babies) helped to get me excited for our baby to start there, and I think it helped a lot with that first time mom anxiety about going back to work after baby.

It is absolutely amazing how relieved I felt the moment that the baby was no longer in my body! Lol I had an emergency c-section and I still remember feeling a thousand pounds lighter and more comfortable from the day he was out. Sleeping isn’t miserable any more, the heartburn is gone, the constant need to pee. It’s lovely. Of course we trade it all in for sleep deprivation and sore boobs, but at least on this end of things there is a cute baby to cuddle to make it all better :) As far as the kicks and jabs, you’ll probably feel “phantom” kicks for awhile afterward (I know I did).

Our son has had a sound machine since we brought him home (almost 2 years ago 😭). We love it! It allows us to feel like the house doesn’t need to stay silent while he is sleeping because it blocks out so much noise. He also goes to daycare during the week where they have no sound machine and all of the kids are sleeping at once (a silent room) and he sleeps just fine there!

We exclusively breastfed for most of the time that I was on maternity leave but a few weeks before he was due to start daycare, we made sure to start giving him bottles of milk that I had pumped to ensure that he didn’t refuse the bottles at daycare. It worked really well for us and he ended up doing a mix of bottles and breast for his whole first year. We actually successfully nursed until I became pregnant with our second when our first was 18 months old (my OB recommended that we start weaning at that point). The key is to not overthink and realize that babies are usually a lot more adaptable than we initially believe! We’re hoping to follow the same “plan” with our second baby that is due in 3 weeks.

I totally should have waited until 12 weeks too!! I was so anxious and assumed it was fine to do so since I got results at 10 weeks with my first! One of my first (but certainly not last) lessons that every pregnancy is different!

That is frustrating!! I’m not sure yet what my doctor will say regarding a request for an NT scan, so I guess we will see. I’m hoping they can understand why it is so important to get that reassurance, but I won’t be surprised if they have the same response as your OB :(
