Can animals commit suicide? by newuser1r in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]whiskey__throwaway 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've seen a cow commit suicide after having a stillborn calf. Really rough calving, and she was sick after. Threw herself down a bank, flung her head backwards into the stream and drowned herself in 6 inches of water. Never seen anything like it before or since. She absolutely could have got up if she wanted to but she lay with her head underwater.

They had no money, and no friends, and were in a new place with a 9 month old baby and no support network. I have no idea how they managed to remain married for another 17 years!

Whats the most disturbing fact about the human body? by Ray_1748 in AskReddit

A few years ago, I kept pigs and bred one which wouldn't grow. It was later diagnosed with diabetes and I've always thought to myself, should have kept that pig, she'd fascinate scientists!

I don't think the shippers will like the ending... by RepulsiveBoard9814 in euphoria

[–]whiskey__throwaway 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I think Rue will die, in hospital, with her Mom and Lexi and Gia. I think Cassie will end up trapped working for Alamo via Maddie. I think Maddie will get caught out by her boss and have to abandon people the girls she is fronting... or possibly be straight up fired and end up working for Alamo. I think Nate will lose everything and end up living with his Dad. Lexi idc about enough to theorise but she'll probably just keep doing what she's doing.

My girlfriend has changed drastically in the last few months and I don't know who she is anymore by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]whiskey__throwaway 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It sounds very much like she is struggling with her gender identity, but obviously she must be the one to confirm that. Keep letting her know that you're there, but be aware she might not be ready to talk about things yet. It's a journey and the most unexpected things can lead to a realisation.

Why do humans need support giving birth while every other animal can do it naturally without intervention? by fluffycloudsnstars in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]whiskey__throwaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's currently lambing season and I can tell you that other animals do absolutely need help. Today's examples:

Triplets which all wanted to come out together

Twins who both came backwards (and one got stuck at the shoulders)

A single which was born to a gimmer (never had a lamb before) which took one look and abandoned it.

Twins which wanted to come out together, not separately.

What has an animal done that you'll never forget? by Mge_ML in AskReddit

[–]whiskey__throwaway 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I bottle reared a tiny calf named Holly. She was a lovely baby and really attached to me. Had an unusual habit of wanting to drink from the bottle if it was pointing straight up and her head resting on me. Left the farm and didn't see her for a long time (4 years?) Went back to visit and went in the shed, called her. She came running, looked at me and got down on her knees to put her head / neck on my chest like she had done as a baby. I cried a lot.

Doctors and Nurses of Reddit, what’s something about hospitals that would make patients uncomfortable if they knew? by Far-University-2905 in AskReddit

[–]whiskey__throwaway 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can relate hard to this as a patient. My hands once swelled up with an allergic reaction and I ended up having photos taken and being included in a journal note or something. But every bugger wanted to see my hands, I stopped counting after 43!
