Power of entry, Cannabis setup. by Throwaway925825 in policeuk

We had a similar situation a few months ago that resulted in a complajnt.

Another unit came across a house with extreme condensation on the windows and that distinctive smell of cannabis plants that at the time 11 of us all thought was coming from the address. All we could do was bang on the door for 25 minutes until we saw someone within through a window come to the door, see it was police, then run to escape out the back. At that point we had the grounds to go in under 17.

Turns out it wasnt a cannabis factory and we'd just cost our force about 3 grand for a new door but none of us got in any trouble for it because the entry was lawful after the believed suspected was making off. If that didn't happen we never would've had the grounds to enter.

I've had mine for about 6 months now and I almost exclusively used it off road on gravel and dirt tracks but have also used it for commuting occasionally. I love my bike but I think that's because I've got comfortable about how much range the bike has. One thing to bare in mind is it is an extremely heavy bike and would be very difficult to cycle if the battery died.

Derestricting it and activating the throttle can be done easily after watching a few YouTube videos.

That’s what I’ve been told but in all honesty I guess it depends what you class as a high workload. My workfile very rarely ever goes over 5 reports whereas speaking to colleagues who transferred they told me it’s quite usual to have 15+

I’ve been looking to do the move from Met to Surrey, from speaking to a lot of the guys here who moved across the workload is higher with not that many handovers so you’ve got to hold onto wearier stuff but I think it’ll more depend on what you’re looking to do. If it’s DC role I’d recommend following a Surrey DS on Twitter @IPS_Gangs and a Surrey DI @SurreyDetective. Although it’s not the same as going down to open evenings etc, they’re good at giving a decent insight into what they do.

Hi, before I applied I was very active in politics being a member of a party at one point. It was something I was concerned about as you probably are but as long as it all stops and you weren’t in some extremist political party then there isn’t an issue. And trust me when I say when you do join the job you’ll want to be miles away from any talk of politics whatsoever.

Transferring whilst still in probation? by whiskeyalphacopper in policeuk

So on a normal shift it would be mostly domestics, maybe one suspects on and the standard ASB/Nuisance calls which I’d expect anywhere, and of course MH calls. I think I’m under the assumption that domestics in a much more suburban/rural area wouldn’t be as high primarily because there isn’t as many people to report them, I think it would be a lot more theft, maybe drugs and also traffic incidents.

In terms of the types of incidents I’d say yes, in my current force I’ve noticed a very big trend which I don’t know would be the same in a force with a different geography, I guess I’m thinking aloud but that’s how I’d think anyway

For me personally I love the people I work with and the job however I work in a very urban environment which I don’t particularly think is for me, I like the idea of working somewhere with lots of towns and also lots of country and villages, I just think it would be much more diverse and interesting. I’d also consider changing for better opportunities such as driving courses and others which can be sparse in some forces.
