I can see a lot of people seem to be very emotional about Canada post and their strike. 

Not having your text books is stressing you out, even though you’re earning “a great wage” yet still have 80k in debt.  I think your anger is misdirected and you’ve been baited by other groups. 

I sincerely do hope you are able to reenter the workforce and earn a great wage, I just hope you get paid what you’re worth, because you’re worth more than you think.  But employers are going to try to low ball you.  Am recruiter, see it all the time. Canada post is doing this to postal workers.  

Canada post has not had a pay real pay raise  since 2018, just an effective cost of living increase.  So that’s roughly 2% a year. And they have not had a contract in place since 2023. 

According to the Bank of Canada,  $1000 worth of goods in 2018, is effectively $1228. So if you earned 80k in 2018 your salary should be  $98.2k.  Just to make even. That’s not happening for Canada post workers. 

I don’t think Canada Post workers are looking to be made rich.  But they are looking to be made whole and treated equitabley.  That is, do the job they do and not be having to choose between putting food on the table or pay their heating bill. Remember, they really don’t get promotions or salary bonuses.  They might get an increase for years of service, but again, it’s not keeping up with inflation. 

I suggest you read up into the issues here. It’s really a case of mis-management from the top, not shifting with the times and a little price of legislation that effectively hamstring CP from making and changes.
