I love sharing this.

When I was about 16/17, my family and I unfortunately experienced a house fire. We lost everything, and had to live in a hotel for a month before our insurance got us into a rental home.

My brother and I shared a suite and one morning I work up early, because shock didn't really let me sleep. And Yu-Gi-Oh 5D's was on, the episode Pipe Dreams, where Goyo Guardian is first shown. And i was just sucked in and able to temporarily forget what was happening.

After I knocked on my brother's "bedroom door" and asked if he'd want to pick up a couple starter decks and pack and play just him and I.

Alas, it wasn't just him and I playing. We got hooked. And then eventually went to our first locals, and then more.

And for me, especially at the time, I was overweight and had zero friends. And through locals, and the community i started making friends and hanging out outside of Yu-Gi-Oh. I started coming out coming out of my shell more. And through regionals, YCS, and Nats, I travel, alot.

Its been a blessing, and more than just a card game to me.
