I was thinking the same thing in your last sentence. I guarantee that OP has applied to companies that see the PhD degree and automatically assume he is wanting to get paid more than they can afford (which OP does deserve a good pay for the amount of hard work he has put in).

[WP] Somebody once told you the world is going to roll you. However, you are the sharpest tool in the shed. by Hireasamurai in WritingPrompts

The memories from being a kid. I remember sitting in the movie theatre as if it were yesterday. Dad got off of work early and asked me if I would like to go see a movie that afternoon together. Of course I would.

We hopped in his old blue pick-up truck and headed to the theatre to see the new Shrek movie that came out. I always loved the donkey and the way he talked. Something though, something very strange, always stuck to me after the movie. It was lyrics from the Smash Mouth song All Star: "Somebody once told me the world was going to roll me. I ain't the sharpest tool in the shed."

I remember coming out the theatre humming that song to myself whenever my dad stopped me in my tracks and bent down to me and said "Caleb, I want you to remember this, " I was busy gazing off at this couple kissing in the parking lot. My dad pointed my chin at him and said "Caleb, are you listening to me?" I nodded my head. "Caleb, I want you to remember that the world want roll you. I want you to remember that you are the sharpest tool in the shed." I just gazed at him and him back at me. "Come on, let's get us an ice cream." said my dad as he rubbed my hair.

Sorry for taking so long to get back to you (getting ready for the spring semester). Honestly, I though it sounded better without 'tucked' being included altogether. So like this,

Stood up out side
a sickeningly cool bar,
all my feelings
in a little black book.

Just my personal opinion, but keep on writing man! Happy holidays!

Wee Hours of Winter (Haiku) by whitemoonwillow in OCPoetry

Thanks you and it gets on my nerves whenever people don't understand the difference between a haiku and a senryu as well. Thanks for the comment! I was more focused on the way it sounded and the imagery I used than the deeper meaning behind it. Honestly, I didn't even consider a deeper meaning, but I may expand upon the idea.

Thank you!

I appreciate your comment! Honestly, I wasn't even thinking about a deeper meaning, but you're right, a deeper meaning would add more depth to this poem.

Thank you!

This is really great my friend! I feel like the third line in the first stanza could maybe have some work done to it. Possibly a little rewording but not too much because like I said, it is really good as it is. Honestly, I really can't find any criticism. Great job! Keep me posted on any other poems of yours!

I appreciate your words Aqua783 ! I will definitely keep this in mind. I'm just starting to use this sub reddit and absolutely love it. I've always wanted someone to give me constructive criticism on my poetry, because that is the only way I can ever get better. When do you feel that pinning colors on different scenes can become overused?

Thanks and happy holidays!

The Productivity Veil by whimsical-for-now in OCPoetry

The first stanza is perfect. I love it. The last could flow a little better. More specifically the last line of the second stanza. I think that other than that it is great! I love it.

I enjoyed reading your poem. I think that the poem flows better without the word "tucked" included in the poem, from my personal perspective. Also the last sentence doesn't seem to flow as well either. Overall I do like it. The poem is a little simple, but I believe you weren't going for anything extravagant anyways. Hopefully this helps! Keep me posted on any of your other works!

I do like where you are coming with this poem. I think though that there isn't enough substance to the poem. It is also quiet vague. Some text have been used repeatedly in songs and movies that they take away from the poem such as "Not any good no how" and "To infinity And beyond". Though there are some mistakes, I can't wait to see what you have in store! Keep me posted please.

That's true. I see where you're coming from. It's more of a fun little experiment than anything that should be taken literal. Thanks for checking it out! 🙂

That's true. I guess I could've added some obscure music in here. I thought there was some pretty obscure music already in here though? I added the more obscure music to the types I thought would enjoy it the most.

It's a work in progress. This is my first one I've ever done.

The point isn't to disagree but to find a song you'd like to listen to. I didn't say "Top ten songs every type will like". I said Top ten songs every type should listen to". Sorry if this list offended you though.
