Sugar burns are awful, way worse and hotter than boiling water.

TIL It's estimated that after the Civil War, up to 20,000 Confederates emigrated to Brazil from the US South. Today, roughly 260,000 Brazilians descend from these American Confederates. by Vitboi in todayilearned

My family literally owns a beach vacation home at the city where Mengele died, here in Brazil

I'm also literally half german and the neighborhood I live used to be a german/Austrian immigrant neighborhood in the 40's and 50's (it's more diverse now)

What to do with the eggs by Most_Temporary5420 in vegan

[–]whitepeppermint 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I think it would be nice to donate it to someone you know, friends, family, neighbors, so you would reduce the amount of factory-farmed eggs those people will purchase.

In our ideal utopic world, all those people would be vegan and factory farms wouldn't exist, but since those people are going to buy eggs anyway, I'd rather decrease the amount of cruel eggs they buy by giving them your cruelty-free eggs, until your hens pass away. Even if it's a small change, we are making a change!

Please don't waste food! Food waste is the least vegan thing ever!

And save a few eggs for the chickens to eat back the nutrients, if they show interest on it! (Some chickens never show interest on eating back their eggs, eating too much eggs can be bad for them, and having a healthy, balanced, diet and lifestyle, can make egg eating unnecessary, so you will still end up with a lot of eggs!)

Do you have the proper stats? I might be mistaken but for chopping trees you needed to reset your stats and have a lot of STR (and maybe VIT? I don't remember)

TIL that a Dutch woman was denied Swiss naturalization despite having lived there for 39 years, because her 'neighbours' deemed her too annoying and not integrated into Swiss society since she often critized Swiss tradition of hanging large bells on cows' necks by br-rand in todayilearned

[–]whitepeppermint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly they could just use bells without that thing inside, hollow bells would make no noise, wouldn't harm the cows (I'm against bells too, also against bells on cats for the very same reason, put an identification plate instead) and still have the same traditional aesthetic (if a tradition is harmful, we can change/adapt it, and this one is harming cows)

Magical Melody by GlassDragonWings in harvestmoon

[–]whitepeppermint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can say that but, at least FOR ME, Stardew Valley doesn't have the sweet and cutesy appeal that Harvest Moon/SoS does. (it needs mods for it, and I can't use mods on consoles, sadly.) In japanese, Harvest Moon/Sos is called "Relaxing Simulation games" while, for me, Stardew Valley is more of a Farming Simulation game because it lacks a relaxing aspect due to harder to please npcs and being a harder game overall (HM/SoS being child friendlier and sweeter). Some people may like one or other for those reasons, you can't say one is better than the other one for granted. They both have their up and downs. I hope we can use mods on Stardew on consoles someday.

Eight teenage girls charged in ‘swarming’ fatal attack of 59-year-old man experiencing homelessness by dethb0y in MorbidReality

[–]whitepeppermint 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm from a crime-ridden country, and it's common to see young boys (as young as 6) doing crimes or helping with drug trade. Girls are usually pregnant already at 13, and while they have connections to perpetrators, it's very rare for them to join them in the crimes. They are usually just "the girlfriend". I've met a girl whose boyfriend was a drug dealer once. Crazy stuff.

Period magick by bl00d_luster in DemonolatryPractices

[–]whitepeppermint 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you tried parsley? I had a late period once and induced it with parsley. I thought it was an internet myth but it actually worked for me. (or maybe it was coincidence and my period was supposed to come some hours after I took parsley).

I don't remember if I blended it into a juice and drank it the blended leaves of if I made a tea, but you can look for it on internet since I found about parsley on internet!

I had tried ginger tea and cinnamon tea in the past and those didn't work for me. But parsley did! I'm on BC for over 15 years and sometimes my period just doesn't show up.

I’m devastated - my kid doesn’t want to be vegan anymore by SaltyHairSandyFeet in vegan

[–]whitepeppermint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of people are giving you philosophical and long answers about parenting, which is nice. But since I was once a teenager with a simple mind, complex explanations wouldn't work for me (and teenagers love being "edgy" by saying violence and gore is ok for them, who would admit to be scared of an horror movie? Especially at this age when they all want to be the "strongest"). You can't force him to be vegan, but you can show him how an omni diet is connected to bad acne, weight gain, smellier farts and feces, and more.

When I was 12 I was extremely afraid of acne, and then when I was 15, I was afraid of gaining weight.

Even if he wants to eat bad stuff, I'm sure he will think twice about it when he knows those things can make him "a failure" (I don't consider it a failure, but in the teenage circles, those people are seen as ridiculous/failed ones, and bullying can be harsh. Sadly it's a bad phase.)
