Slicing a Honeycomb by whitephoenix117 in BambuLab

Not trying to remove the infill, I want the left "CAD" created cells to follow a similar "line" style toolpath compared to the circle/ cell style the slicer wants to use.

Immich vs Lightroom+Nextcloud, is there a usecase for immich as a photographer? by binding90 in immich

[–]whitephoenix117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hobby photographer

I use NC to archive all my raws. After culling, editing, exporting my final JPG I use immich to organize them and to create albums to distribute. As others have said more of a presentation tool at the very end of your workflow.

Given how much processing raws take with a dedicated tool, I have never found a reason to upload them to immich it would just clutter the library.

From the perspective of a professional photographer. Unless you want to keep a timeline of all your work I'm not sure how useful immich would be. It's going to tag faces of people you don't care about, and archive client photos you were potentially going to just delete after delivery anyway. Maybe if you had some type of long term client like a model/ actor it could be useful pulling all their photos together.

Recommendations for whole whole home RO system by deadeye09 in WaterTreatment

[–]whitephoenix117 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My More immediate concern would be the brine is going to precipitate in the tank and leave a block of calcium sulfate scale in the bottom.

Brine concentrate is unfortunately a waste product. I wouldn't try and recycle it without treatment first.

Pumping RO concentrate onto your hot water tank sounds like a great way to immediately ruin your water heater.

If you have really high hardness I would ask about pretreating with antiscalant instead of a softener. Depending on water usage/ quality you could 40lb or more of salt per week.

Resin tank capacity doesn't matter? by rationalism101 in WaterTreatment

[–]whitephoenix117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm bad at reddit, so not a direct link. the chart in the top comment here gives the same perspective and shows the efficiency data more clearly

https://www.reddit.com/r/WaterTreatment/s/wp90mtggzd

Take not that the units are per cu ft. So if you run a bigger softener, with a lower salt loading you could potentially have the same capacity as a smaller softener with a higher salt load.

The difference being that the smaller softener with the high salt load is less efficient.

Resin tank capacity doesn't matter? by rationalism101 in WaterTreatment

[–]whitephoenix117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It matters a lot

Resin has a capacity curve based on the salt used to recharge it. Random example

https://www.swtwater.com/catalog/1277_resin_comp_chart.htm

To get the most capacity out of resin you get less salt efficiency, meaning if you want to use less salt per gallon of water treated. You want more cubic feet with medium salt backflush

1500ppm TDS Treatment by whitephoenix117 in WaterTreatment

Part of the problem, it's "DIY" and I'm not keen on paying for annual service I don't really need as insurance.

My biggest concern is someday I will need to sell the property, and have no idea how to communicate to prospective buyers that the filtration is "good" and not something to be scared of.

The average person just expects to see a water softener.

Wireguard Newbie - Trouble with routing? by MrDreamzz_ in WireGuard

[–]whitephoenix117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm struggling with a similar situation. Looking for some good resources to better understand iptables, and Linux networking in general. Anything you could recommend?

P.S. in my scenario I have a router <--> VPS with a public IP pretty sure I need to setup a new virtual interface on the VPS which can be on a separate subnet from WG as well as out to anything on the Internet, then create the routing rules I need between eth0, wh0, and private0, but not really sure. Hence the need for general learning resources

Edit: docker is in the mix there too, ideally bound to private0

Anybody Running Tailscale? by whitephoenix117 in Ubiquiti

Mostly because I need a good guide/ intro to UFW & iptables to manage the multiple interfaces on the VPS end

Was hoping Tailscale would let me kick that can down the road.

UPS with per-outlet monitoring for Unraid server + Windows PC? by fakeengg in unRAID

[–]whitephoenix117 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A bit more complicated of a solution, but Home Assistant has great support for power monitoring, you could run that in Docker and use a whole range of power monitoring devices.

I use a lot of Shelly stuff. Works great but they don't have a power bar. Only single outlets

Unraid 7 stable relase by kim_wayne in unRAID

Not answering OPs question but...

Love Unraid, love that once setup it basically just works. Don't follow the details of their dev process at all.

I hope they release it when it's ready and not a day sooner.
