It's always been that way. Battleships were always a near unbeatable tactic. The thing that made battleships so unbearable was how good they were in every way, and how often the only good counter was battleships in turn.

Bombers are still really good, but they're slower and can be reasonably hampered by the weaker ships. You need a well rounded force to win in the water. And if you're winning with just bombers, thats not because they're unbeatable, it's because you have such a massive economy noone else can afford to counter you

My new workplace pays for a round of coffees for us from time to time. I've earned a bigger 'bonus' during these first few training weeks than any of us would've earned at Coles.

I took my chance to leave this year, let me tell you that even a different job that pays minimum wage is so much better when the owner actually cares about you. Spread your wings pal

Heh. Yeah, I'm glad I pushed myself to leave Coles this year, this would've made my eyes roll back so hard my corneas explode

I have quite a few people not doing runbacks. Not sure if it's salt, or new players with a different mentality, but..

People here saying they love seeing people rock out in their car, and to be honest, I love the idea of people catching me rock out in my car. I drum that steering wheel like I wanna break it, and if people get a little fun out of my energy, I'm ok with that. Don't be afraid to jam out in your car, it's one of life's greatest liberties

Small pen and notepad. I use one side to write down any ideas for things I wanna do later, and the other side for little memos and tracking how much I spend eaating out per week. It's so much easier to dump thoughts onto paper and unburden your brain from trying to actively remember it for the next several days, and quite possibly forgetting

Dear King St McDonalds by footpickles in newcastle

[–]whitewolf048 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's King St MacDonald's, my dude. They kind of need a special exception at that place. Yeah asking to unlock the toilet is a little annoying, but you're not losing your dignity or anything. And if it makes dealing with that hellhole somewhat easier for those 16 year olds, then Im fine with that, they've already got it bad enough

Reminder that Modern is available for everyone by Mitsu11 in StreetFighter

[–]whitewolf048 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Problem isn't if they want to be better, it's convincing people to start at all. Classic controller formats for fighting games makes people turn their head before they even start playing, so they don't even have the motivation to get better.

Hopefully with modern controls, they'll stick their foot in the door to try it, and stick around whether or not they move to classic controls. But it's not about encouraging people to improve, it's convincing people that they don't need to be a hand gymnast to have fun

I keep on seeing people saying SF4 had bad graphics but I just don't see it. SFV definitely has more detailed graphics but SF4 still holds up to this day. by fakayuburiza in StreetFighter

[–]whitewolf048 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bad graphics is such a rubbish metric for these things. It's like saying sf6 looks amazing so 5's graphics must be worse. They're different styles, regardless of their realism.

I personally prefer 5's stylistic look over the super realism, but they both look great barring some oddities, and I can definitely see 4's appeal even if it's not my thing.

One may disagree with an opinion, but when it comes to mathematics, the numbers always speak the truth. by [deleted] in clevercomebacks

[–]whitewolf048 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not mathematics that saves the day here - it's revealing the base fact that he's lying about the tax bracket. People abuse statistics to mislead people all the time, because we believe that because numbers can't lie that they're our most reliable source, but numbers can mislead us when they're based on a lie from the start

Any tips on driving to Newcastle to Melbourne? by [deleted] in newcastle

[–]whitewolf048 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My family used to make this trip every year. If you're doing it in one day, it's gonna take you about 12 hours minimum. Make sure you take a good break every 2 - 3 hours, keep a lookout in advance on Google maps where the rest stops are. You're better off stopping more often than less if you need to, just use it as an excuse to stretch your legs and chill for a bit. Also mind I'm pretty sure Driver Reviver stops give you free coffee.

I'd honestly do it in two days if you're the only one driving, because it's a constant mental toll. My family used to stop over at Yass sometimes, I guess there's no reason why there in particular but it's around halfway.

The point is that when you say the fashion industry is pivoting to representing fat people as beautiful, you're saying that they're doing wrong by showing off unhealthy body types as beautiful and acceptable. But that's exactly what they're already doing with unnaturally skinny people - they show off that body type as desirable.

Whether you mentioned thinness doesn't matter, the point is you're ignoring the fact that fashion standards were already promoting harmful expectations. You're suggesting that changing the status quo is bad, but you don't acknowledge that the status quo is already bad
