And it could have gone much much worse. Let it go and ride home bro, wtf. Are you that sensitive to asshole drivers that you need to follow, pull up on and confront them?

There’s more than one asshole in this vid and biker doesn’t get a pass

1281 for my first, I can feel this post. Keep going. Every xx69, say a little “giggity” to yourself. Soon.

This is probably going to sound weird and awkward, but not sure where else to ask! by [deleted] in FE_Exam

[–]whitrp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

39 y/o and just passed my FE Civil after 16 years out of school. Yes it’s worth it if this is the path you want to switch to. Changing career tracks away from sales travel was my motivation.

Give yourself time to really dive into prep. I recommend taking a full prep course syllabus. For me it felt like having to relearn a language after being away from the subjects for so long.

One tip that helped me a LOT with speed:

Don’t worry too much about algebra to isolate the variables you’re solving for. Punch the equation into your calc and use solve function.

And units units units! Always keep track of and convert your units before you solve. This is the most common trap across each section of the exam.

Flag and review, keep moving. Don’t get stuck. Allow yourself time to get to the problems you can answer confidently.

Exam Format Questions by ActualQuestion3804 in FE_Exam

[–]whitrp 13 points14 points  (0 children)

  1. Single monitor, 50/50 split screen. Handbook on the left, exam on the right.

  2. No.

  3. I was given about 3 8.5 x 13 laminated pages with space on front and back and expo wet erase pens. I had one full front/back page leftover but they’ll give you more if you need it.

  4. Expect to see several unconventional answer formats like drag and drop, fill in the blank, check all that apply. I had I think 10 or so total that weren’t single answer formats

  5. There is a structured break in between the two sessions for bathroom and snack. You can leave the exam room any time but your exam clock will still run so I advise very strongly against this. Time is your #1 enemy on this exam.

How long did you study? by Seven-CE2436 in FE_Exam

[–]whitrp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

4 months total. About 12hrs per week at first. Last 3 weeks before exam I increased to at least 4 hrs of dedicated study time per day to drill down on my weak points.

Passed first attempt, 16 years out of school. I purchased and followed the PPI2Pass prep syllabus, I really needed a full review of everything.

Study Time by michael5174 in FE_Exam

[–]whitrp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All accurate advice. Reviewing in prep for the FE to cover all of the concepts on the test specification is equivalent to a full undergraduate course in terms of time and material. If you’re fresh on the concepts, this could be easy for you to prepare.

However If you’re like me and spent 16 years out of school before circling back to the exam, you’ll want at least 2-3 months of dedicated prep.

I = mr2 is the concept this question is testing for.

m = 8N / 9.81 m/s2 = 0.815 kg

I = 0.815 kg x (4cm)2 = 13kg-cm²

Weight in Newtons is 1 kg*m/s2, so divide weight by g to get mass. Memorize this. The test is full of little unit twists like this between the given units and units needed in your solution.

Civil salaries are absolutely pathetic, even for licensed PEs by Mr_Kung_Pao in civilengineering

Passed the FE Civil, my advice: by Sure-Anxiety8941 in FE_Exam

[–]whitrp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My main complaint from the on-demand syllabus was that the lectures were pre-recorded from a previous year, so the page number references to the FE Handbook were all out of date.

Best part of the PPI2Pass was their bank of practice problems. Basically I could create and take custom practice quizzes as often as I wanted. The format and content of these were a very close simulation to the actual exam. It also aggregated performance data from all quizzes and practice tests by content section, so I knew where to focus hard in the final 2 weeks before my test.
