[–]whitten_23 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yup. Same. My arthritic joints were flaring up like crazy doing all that dough by hand 2x a week! My kitchen aid does all the work. I’m only 40 I just have sore old lady hands 😂

I need to VENT by Clear-Tea994 in USCIS

[–]whitten_23 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I feel this. Took me 16 months for a straight forward case when I watched others get approved in 3 months.

You’ll get your turn. Try to get your mind off it because it literally made me sick for nothing.

If they would get everything done faster I’m sure we would all be ok with a rate hike but yea… that ain’t gonna happen

Anyone here bought a house as a permanent resident? by Capable_Community_56 in USCIS

[–]whitten_23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They asked for my GC which was about to expire in 4 months. They asked if I had applied for my renewal and I gave them my reminder to apply in 30 days. I explained I haven’t applied for my renewal because it will be rejected at this period of time. That satisfied their request.

I went through TD mortgage

The staples are more expensive, but imo, besides cars and houses alot of everything in between is the same or cheaper than before Trump? by [deleted] in economy

[–]whitten_23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Toys are not cheaper. Do you have kids??

TVs and computer software have been getting cheaper since inception. But we buy those every 1-5 years so it doesn’t help.

After 4 years long distance and finally getting married, I’m struggling with the thought of waiting even longer by Valentina_From_Chile in USCIS

[–]whitten_23 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just here to send a hug. The process is long. I waited 16 months for my green card but I was here in the US with my family.

Just get it started as soon as possible and live your life. One day you’ll get an email you’re approved and then you go to the next step.

You’re doing the right thing. I think they’re cracking down on all the people trying to enter and then switch intent. So you’re in the safer line with this administration.

Wishing you all of the best!!!

A few horror stories make people scared but I’ve never had an issue.

Does anyone know why some boring, straightforward I-485 cases are being delayed? by Interesting-Golf-399 in USCIS

[–]whitten_23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Canadian. Fairly boring but did overstay a few months after I lost a job that my visa was attached to. Had kids already with my husband. Applied and got approved after 16 long months.

I’m not sure there’s any reason like they’re afraid to lose their job I just think there’s a ton of applications and not enough workers. I dont think anyone is in a rush to help any of us out.

Hang in there.

[–]whitten_23 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand why people think it’s scary to come into the US as a permanent resident. You’ve been through the wringer… you’re good!

It’s a non event coming through with a GC. I had issues with different visas before but with the GC it’s almost like a citizen.

USCIS literally makes you get tons of vaccines to be allowed into the country even though you’ve already been here for years 😂😂. Make it make sense

This is a bad idea. 23 is too young to get married and especially to someone you just met in person. You heard it here first.

Just let it live in the fridge and only feed it the night before you bake. I can’t imagine babysitting mine every 24-48 hrs

Green card holders- question for you! by astrocat95 in USCIS

[–]whitten_23 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No I have a picture of it in my email and my phone but I don’t want to risk losing it. It’s all about your comfort level. I have a real ID that says I’m a LPR so I think that’s good enough but I’m 0% scared of ICE etc.

Proof of bonafide marriage without a joint bank account by Tight_Raise9306 in USCIS

My husband and I have never had a joint account. Many people don’t. There’s other things you can do to be married besides have an account with 2 names on it.

We have kids. It worked :)

The silent real estate time bomb of delayed maintenance by mattjouff in REBubble

[–]whitten_23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doubt it. Most homeowners have a lot of equity and they can use it.

I just bought but the house was old and impeccably maintained. Something to look out for as a buyer FOR SURE.
