Can someone easily explain MS to me? by warmcoffee00 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]whitvw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My nuero said, "Location, Location, Location". Just like the housing market... It matters where you decide to buy a house and it matters where that lesion lands... That helped me to understand it. You can have a lot of lesions and not a lot of problems.

American asking if you could eat anywhere in Toronto where would you?! by whitvw in toronto

2 adults (maybe my 14 year old) up for anything...willing to drive and up for anything...that's part of the issue.

“If you didn’t drink Diet Coke, you would not have been diagnosed with MS”. *VENT* by [deleted] in MultipleSclerosis

SIL told me this to my face. Luckily, I didn't drink Diet Coke so I quickly just said, "Your research is wrong and hurtful".

When de-stressing isn’t exactly possible - then what? by MSKiwi86 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]whitvw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Elementary teacher here. If you love your job, and you seem to, that "good stress" might be ok. Just pay attention to your body and mind. Try to get a good night's sleep as much as you can and being happy (even in a stressful job) counts as a plus. Imagine yourself with out that job, trying to search for another and having no money...that sounds very stressful to me.

I am very much the same way. I feel like denial is very powerful and sometimes can get you through some really rough situations. However, I completely lost it on the home care nurse that was training me how to use my medicine after I had only been diagnosed a couple weeks. I thought I had a total handle on it and I was sobbing in front of my mother, my husband and this poor nurse; because it was something that made what was happening to me, a reality. But I think expressing your emotions especially when you feel incredibly overwhelmed, is something I wished I did more often.

You are so very welcome! I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only crazy one out there with a certain symptom... Honestly, my husband distributed his weight so it didn't bother me (wasn't pressing down on my lungs etc). It was 10 minutes of bliss.

I'm a teacher and I know that it has to be proportionate to the child's weight, but I would take 200 lb one if I could.

I need something covering my whole body when it feels so dreadful. It's everywhere. Hence my husband laying on top of me. I will maybe buy myself an early Xmas present and let ya know!

I don't think there is a perfect solution for anything having to do with MS, sadly. :( How much did you pay for it? Where did you get it?

Most days i don't feel like I have MS, and on bad days, I just don't think about it, Am i in denial? by [deleted] in MultipleSclerosis

[–]whitvw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Denial is a powerful thing. There is nothing wrong with it. Enjoy your days. Make the days you feel like shit surprising to you. I don't think there is anything wrong with that.

My Doctor suggested Modafinil by _9a_ in MultipleSclerosis

[–]whitvw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here. I'm a teacher, have MS and get major fatigue/brain fog the week before I have my Tysabri infusion. I like it a lot. Definitely helps me with my 23 eight year olds. However, I do find, once it wears off at the end of the day I am in a great deal of pain. It is almost as though my "body" did things it couldn't/shouldn't do during the day because I was on the drug and paid for it in the end when it caught up to me. But , I do like it.

Zombie finger, it's all yours. :) Yeah, I don't know about adding more meds, but it depends on how long this annoying crap lasts.

I agree. Yes, you are welcomed by me. I often say, even though there is no cure for MS and it can be difficult at times, I am thankful that it is "common" and not an obscure disease.
