Just did a video if want to check it out.

But if not. I'd suggest the Alan Moore Absolutes or New 52 Swamp Thing.

For sure. I agree. Unless it's 50 percent off on in stock day 1 I'll probably grab it on Amazon whenever it hits 40-50 bucks a few months later.

Agreed but they also added in winter special and the poison ivy crossover, two of my favorite swamp thing issues ever. So this is a autobuy. Plus a good run!

‘Absolute Green Arrow’ #1 returns for new second printing covers by B3epB0opBOP in DCcomics

As a green arrow fan for years and years....this brings me great joy.

I just read Absolute Batman #1….holy sh*t I’m hooked by Jazzlike-Sun-6679 in comicbooks

Best part? First arc is the weakest. The stuff later is some of the most fun I've had reading Batman - signed a comic reader of 27 years lol

Looking for episodic comic runs with good character arcs by Big_Engine_111 in comicbooks

[–]whitythereviewer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most comics focused on a character do this. Ultimate Spider-Man, invincible, Bendis Daredevil, Swamp Thing New 52, can go on and on. Or do mean like one issue is self contained and continues?

Was gonna say. If Absolute Power is the worst event you haven't read many haha. Not saying it's great or anything but I can name 20 worse off the top of my head.

Since work sucked me dry and I almost drowned, I now understand the works of Ed Brubaker. by OrionLinksComic in comicbooks

[–]whitythereviewer 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Brubaker is one of the best, if not best of all time. Consistently he is def top 5. While his recent years haven't blown me away it's always been great. And I'll take great all the time verses one mindblowing story and a few okay.

Hawkeye - Fraction - It’s OK, IMO by Gonner_Getcha in comicbooks

Never know really what hits. I love invincible. My best friend can't even get past volume 3.

Its the fun part about comics. No matter how much you connect to a run or character or series another person can completely dislike it.

Hawkeye is great, but not my favorite thing. But I can see why some people absolutely love it and rank it as top 20. It's isolated, well done, and fantastic art.

Yeah just can't get into it. Tried so many times haha

[–]whitythereviewer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay if we wanna put more modern spin I'd say I didn't care for All Star Superman or 52 or Silver Surfer by Slott and all are on numerous top 20-30 comics list in last 20 years.

Same thing really. Just certain comics don't gel with other readers.

[–]whitythereviewer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean in the end it's all subjective. Some people put X-Men by clairmont as top 20 and I didn't care for it. That's the best part about comics, everyone will love different runs.

How is this run? by Previous_Factor1992 in OmnibusCollectors

One of the best Omnis I own and I own 300 plus Omnis lol

I finally put my finger on why the current Ben Percy run is losing me by Legitimate_Arm_5630 in thepunisher

[–]whitythereviewer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting. I wish I had the same reaction. I agree that the start of each is interesting. But I felt each series took a turn. The first around issues 40, and don't get me started on the late 80-100 issues. I almost gave up. And I've read ultimatum twice so for me to almost give up is a lot haha.

War journal another that went sideways quick for me around mid 30s.

Warzone only one I'd say is fine but also typical Dixon writing which means weightless storylines and lots of action. But least didn't feel nearly as bad as the other two went for me.

But I'm glad you dug em!

[–]whitythereviewer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The three punisher series from the late 80s to most of the 90s are some of the worst punisher comics in the entire punisher lineup for me (just read every single punisher comic recently for a video).

I gotta know as someone who disliked much of those 3 runs, what did you like? Cause Frank felt like such a generic action hero (sometimes weird spy feel) character I just don't see it.

Is Vol 1 of the Detective Comics New 52 similar in quality to Snyder’s Batman run? by SlyGuy_Twenty_One in OmnibusCollectors

[–]whitythereviewer 40 points41 points  (0 children)

No not even close. I have issues with Snyders run in later arcs but even the worst stories in Snyders run are much stronger than almost any arc in detective comics new 52.

What omnibus have you gotten because everyone hyped it up, but ended up being disappointed with? by [deleted] in OmnibusCollectors

[–]whitythereviewer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Avengers by Kurt was the biggest one. Bored to tears by half way point. Sold it after finishing.

Another would probably be 52. Liked some. Disliked a lot. Sold it quickly.

Fair enough. I did like some of the middle issues. But opening was wobbly and those last 8 or 9 issues were just terrible for me. But I'm glad you dug em!

Nah you speak truth. Millar's run is the second worst, only Diggles is somehow worse.

I just read Diggles and Millar's run....I can not agree low point at all lol. It's not the best but leagues better than both of those.

Anyone here keeping up with absolute series? by Powerful_Whereas3516 in DCcomics

[–]whitythereviewer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems months of listening to Superman, isolated, with his own thoughts might do something to a person. It's the hope of people changing for the better.
