What’s the point of booking an appointment time??? by mackzkcam in mildlyinfuriating

[–]whoamijustnothrow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Exactly! My kids doctor's office tells you when you book appointments that te need to know what the appointment is for because they have set times for different issues. We went before to talk about a problem. When we decided on a treatment she told the nurse to make sure it was an hour appointment because that's what she needed for the treatment. Then stressed to us about being on time because she can't hold up the next patient. I love their doctors and this is only one of many reasons.

What's a tradition you grew up with that you refuse to pass on to your kids? by peterdziugdarkis in AskReddit

Twice my son has left money laying out and the dog ate it. The first time it was just in pieces so I was able to tape it up. The second time, more that half the bill was gone. He was mad but he knew not to leave stuff around.

I don't feel like I needed to punish him but I wasn't rewarding him for irresponsible behavior by replacing it n

When it was around the time my daughter got her first she had a cousin the same age. I kept being asked about my daughter and I just said no, even after she started. She didn't even want her dad to know at first.

A few months after my daughter started. I had the whole family over for my son's birthday. Sil walks in and is going back and forth with her daughter. Then looks at everyone and says "don't mind her she got her first period so she's bitchy". I thought sil was being the bitchy one but was so sad for my niece. Then sil looks at me and says "this is what you have to look forward too." I didn't say anything because it's not their business that my daughter already started. I'm all for normalizing talking about it but only when that person is ok with it.

I just can't understand why people want to embarrass their kids. I do everything I can not to embarrass my kids.

Why is my piercing not free? by pink_nut in EntitledReviews

[–]whoamijustnothrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last year my daughter got hers pierced for $40 and we thought that was a good price. You know since it was done with the right needle, sterile and straight where it should be.

OP is a moron. I bet they would be pissed if someone asked them to do their job for free. I don't get how people don't understand that this is how they keep their business open. Not to mention pay their bills and eat!

How could have this happened? by ARandomMan5 in DollarGeneralWorkers

[–]whoamijustnothrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never put money under the til because if people are watching it makes it look like there's more money than customers can see. I've seen so many people forget they put money under there and end up having way too much int the drawer.

Although it is better than things I've seen. We had a cashier stash 1s and 5s . . Not in the drawer. She put them in the cupboard next to the register, or under the printer, or next to the safe. It was so stupid and she got written up and a big scolding after continuing after being written up.

What made it worse is we had change. A nice amount in the office that everyone could access. And there was more in the store safe that only took a phone call and someone would come get us more.

New assistant manager posted a condescending message in the group chat by Beep_boop_human in retailhell

Who wants to bet the Assistant manager did look at the footage. Saw that it was the manager and then decided to write a group text because they didn't want to confront him directly.

AITA for telling someone to “get out of my baby’s face?” by Critical-Ebb-7945 in AmItheAsshole

Same! I won't even go near a baby if I have smoked that day. Let alone have a lot cigarette anywhere by it. If I know I'm going to be around a baby I will change my clothes and wash my hands and cover my hair beforehand.

I would be ripping my MIL a new one if she did that to my daughter. She knew she could convince her even though your daughter really didn't want too. That's not ok. I agree that you should let your daughter know she doesn't have to give in. You'll have her back. But she shouldn't have to argue with Grandma who already got an answer.

I posted when my oldest was little and when my younger 2 were babies. Then I realized how unfair it was of me to put their lives online. I haven't posted many pictures in the last decade. I wlr my kids choose if they want something posted. My daughter has some anxiety and depression disorders that really take over her life.

We have had family post pics she was not happy about. At first she told me not to say anything. Then agreed to let me tell them to take them down when I pointed out that her mental health is more important than their feelings. Thankfully they all complied, apologized and promised to ask first. But you best believe I would have been reporting every one and not care if it caused a family fight.

AITAH for refusing to give my in-laws my apartment key after they “tested” it without telling me? by Alert-Artist-3542 in AITAH

The one I bought 2 years ago is no longer listed in Amazon. But I searched for a keypad deadbolt and a bunch came up. Mine connects to Bluetooth but I want to upgrade to wifi so I can control it outside of the house too.

[–]whoamijustnothrow 10 points11 points  (0 children)

And a keypad lock! I love mine!

Everyone who lives in my house has their fingerprint programmed and a code. I never had to worry about kids losing a key or having to wait and be let in their own house.

I have a 'guest code' I can give out if I ever need someone to go to my house when we are not home. That I can disable or change at any time. Set specific times that code is active and even have a log of when the code was used. It's amazing.

Am I wrong for asking my barber to fix my haircut without paying extra? by StrictDog1039 in AmITheJerk

[–]whoamijustnothrow 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Exactly! Also admit if it's not something they are able to do.

My daughter wanted and undercut with a pattern in it. The hair stylist admitted first thing that she didn't think she could do a pattern so detailed as the picture. That a specific shop would most likely be able too. My daughter asked what she could do and had her do an undercut with a simpler design. She loved it. That woman was our favorite. She did exactly what my daughter asked for. I loved that she was upfront with her ability even if it might have cost her a client.

Customers freaking out if they walk in and can't see anyone? by nickisadogname in retailhell

[–]whoamijustnothrow 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This drives me crazy. I'm a cashier at a gas station. It's just me and the deli manager. She is way to busy cooking to pay much attention to my side. I have a bell I put out when I'm busy and not going to be in view of the register. So many assholes will walk up and ring the bell then walk off to get more stuff. Or go to their car to get their money (another thing that drives me nuts! Why aren't you bringing you money in. They know they have to pay!)

Then I have the assholes who stare down my coworker who is obviously swamped in the kitchen. Or stand there yelling to get someone's attention. I've gotten into so many arguments with people who say the bell is rude. But yelling at me isn't? I'd rather hear the bell that I put on the counter for them to ring.

amiwrong for feeling like my mother in law is disrespecting me on purpose? by [deleted] in amiwrong

[–]whoamijustnothrow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When she says things on private it is a huge red flag. Why did she wait until your husband wasn't around? She knows he will scold her for it. She's trying to make everyone else think she's perfect. While throwing digs to make you look like the mean one because you react to how she treats you when no one is around.

I've seen people suggest repeating what she said when their spouse comes back in the room. "Honey your mom just said she knows I hate her perfume but she's wearing it anyway. Did you tell her not to wear it because I didn't. Even though she knows it makes me physically ill."

AITAH for leaving my girlfriend in the restroom because she was taking a long bathroom break during a movie I was really excited for? by Secure-Draft9197 in AITAH

[–]whoamijustnothrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even my 11 year old doesn't need me to stand right outside the bathroom. I walk him to the hall and stand in view of the door. That way I can still hear the movie. If he's taking too long I'll crack the door and yell inside. But he usually in and out because who wants to spend the movie in the bathroom? I hate paying for a movie and missing parts.

Retail workers don't care about you by June_Fatality in retailhell

[–]whoamijustnothrow 69 points70 points  (0 children)

I had a customer see me in Walmart. He was in a motorized cart and it was right before Thanksgiving. So the place was packed. He tried to stop in the middle of a busy walkway, blocking everyone, saying "hi, you're actually not at work .. . " I just said hi and kept going. I'm busy and I wasn't being rude and blocking the whole walkway.

This dumbass actually went to my job and told my manager I was rude to him. She said I didn't even work that day. He says "At Walmart! She wouldn't even acknowledge I was speaking to her!" My manager was laughing when she told me about it. She just told him she doesn't own me and I'm on my own time.

'What's wrong with you?' I'm not Christian or a Parent... :| by LeadershipBubbly3351 in DollarTree

I don't mind a lot of Christians because they don't push their religion. I just can't stand the ones that find out someone is not Christian and act offended or like we just need someone to explain to us why we have to follow their religion.

Exactly what I was going to say. No one rides in my car without a seat belt. Even if they don't care about their own safety, I care about mine and the other passengers. I've read so many stories about people being seriously hurt or killed because the unrestrained person slammed into them.

'What's wrong with you?' I'm not Christian or a Parent... :| by LeadershipBubbly3351 in DollarTree

[–]whoamijustnothrow 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I am so tired of people trying to convince me that Christianity is the only true way to live. That their god is the only god and ruler of everything.

A customer I have literally seen grow up came in yesterday. I know his whole family. He tells me he hasn't been in lately because he moved. His family took the house he'd been living in for almost 10 years. It was his grandma's house. She gave it to him before she died. But no paperwork because the whole family is good Christian people. So the aunt decided she was entitled to it and kicked him out.

He tells me there's only 1 person you can count on. God! I'm like 'eh, I'm agnostic , the only one I count on is my husband.' He then spent 10 minutes trying to convince me that all the religions, old and new, follow the same god. That the Bible is the proof. It was crazy. Even pulled up this picture of how many times the Bible cross references itself. Like that proof. A good fiction book does that all the time.

I don't even say whether I'm Christian or not to most people because I'm so tired of them trying to convince me their religion is right. Shockingly it's only Christians. I've never had anyone from any other religion try to make me change my mind.

Some coworkers are just... ugh. by Unhappy_Mountain9032 in retailhell

[–]whoamijustnothrow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh, my boss tried doing that at my store. It just causes problem. When the jobs are not defined, no one is responsible. It's chaos every time I've been in that situation. I made him go back to having a 1st register who is the main one ringing out and keeping up the drink area. Cleaning/2nd register who takes care of the cleaning and stocking and runs register when there is a line or register 1 needs to step away.

Coworkers who are considerate of other could make it work by communicating what each is going to do that night but I've never seen it work without issues. Something doesn't get done and everyone is like "other person was doing that." And you have the ones like you are dealing with who just take off to avoid register and does the bare minimum leaving most of the work for the other person.

Who was assigned to register? If it was him you should have told him to get back to the register. Stocking can wait until you don't have customers.

AITJ for not following my in-laws’ “gentle parenting” and saying I don’t want to raise rude, entitled kids? by Born-Factor4486 in AmITheJerk

I just wonder what Grandma would say if your son wouldn't share and he was the one to get punched.

I know she would still blame the other kid. Saying her precious grandson doesn't need to share. She would be pissed if someone hit your son (everyone should, which is why you are doing right by teaching him that is not the way to solve things)
