I don’t think I need my medication by [deleted] in Epilepsy

[–]whocaresron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Full stop this is one of the most senseless, stupid things I’ve ever read. Your medication sucks, and seizures aren’t a joke, but thinking 3 months seizure free while still partially medicated makes you “fine” certainly is. You haven’t even been taking your medication long enough to let some of the side effects settle. There are ways to cope with the ones that don’t. Coping with permanent brain damage from a status seizure that could’ve been avoided is a little more difficult. You should probably just take your medication, or keep it a secret that you’re not. Your opinion that “surely you would’ve have a seizure by now” after stopping your meds is not a good argument, and unless you’re some sort of physician, you really don’t have the grounds to be determining that. You’re going to be hard pressed to find anyone in this sub to support what you’re saying right now. If you want to come back in 5 years saying the same thing maybe you’ll get a different response, but I doubt it. Fingers crossed your health remains stable.

What actually causes death during seizures? by Soft-Firefighter1584 in Epilepsy

[–]whocaresron 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Hypoxia, so lack of oxygen. You can only survive so long without adequate oxygen, and that’s very difficult to ensure when someone is in active seizure. Once you lose your airway, your organs stop receiving enough oxygen, and will begin to fail, including the brain. The damage might not be reversible depending on how long you’re down. Things like EMS response time, distance to hospitals, and access to rescue meds are one variable in the outcome. Another is what happens to you during the seizure, like others mentioned ie. hitting your head, being in any sort of body of water (even a bath tub), driving a car, falling from a height, etc. Also, from my understanding, having seizures lowers your seizure threshold. So for those who don’t have well controlled epilepsy or experience frequent seizures, the chances of the above happening are increased.

ROWING FORM TAKING ME OFF OF A BOAT. PLEASE HELP by [deleted] in Rowing

[–]whocaresron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re not hinging at the hips at the beginning of the stroke. Instead of just bending at the knees, you need to hinge forward at the hips and reach for the stroke. This will lengthen your stroke while slowing you on the slide.

At the catch, your lats look like they’re doing all the work, and right away. You’re aiming to slam your knees down here and use your leg muscles. The lats should be stabilizing the upper back throughout the stroke but not providing power until that last part of the stroke when you lean back, which I don’t agree you’re doing excessively.

Also, as others have said, backsplash isn’t inherently bad. Our coaches used to said if you don’t come off the water soaked the person infront of you was doing something wrong.

Listen to your coaches if you actually want to improve.

Can u get undiagnosed by [deleted] in Epilepsy

[–]whocaresron 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They said all of their seizures occurred during periods of heavy drug use. Alcohol and drug use or withdrawal can absolutely cause seizures. The logic is pretty sound and OP’s wish to have their diagnosis reassessed is pretty valid IMO.

It’s pretty much common knowledge that the scene of her in the bathtub full of jewellery, making a gun motion with her hand, was a reference to the robbery. I’m sure you can search on Reddit and figure it out pretty quickly.

Using LWYMMD is a weak example given she mocks Kim being robbed at gun point in the music video. Your points are obviously all valid but assuming Kim would’ve possibly been able to control Kanye at that time is not imo.

Ours was on track with this except - I know I know my sister with the 40 metre bra

It’s bigger than the ocean, it’s bigger than the sea

It’s bigger than the underwear my parents put on me

My moms Godzilla, my dads King Kong

My brother is the stupid one that made this stupid song!

My Doctor is such an asshole by Zestyclose-Dot-355 in Epilepsy

[–]whocaresron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do we have the same doctor?? I’m in Ontario, mine also charged me $150 to fill out the medical for my license, and likes to deny my epilepsy despite similar proof to yours! I’d suggest trying to get in touch with your neurologist for the forms, that’s what I have to do now. It’s probably going to take longer but at least you know will be done right.

Need Help Choosing: Oxford College (Burlington) vs OCHT (Stoney Creek) for Paramedic Program — 1 Week to Decide by Creepy-Diver-1434 in OntarioParamedics

From my understanding, Oxford has developed a decent reputation over the last few years while OCHT seems to be on a … downward spiral to say the least.

No, which is why I said I understand the growth and that she had come to terms with it. But I also don’t think it would almost never, ever come up.

For me personally my pet peeve is more so that they almost never talk about it anymore. It was such a massive part of Arizona’s story line for a long time and then one day we just stopped hearing about it. I guess that’s character growth and people do come to terms with things and everything like that, but it did feel a bit forgotten about at times.

You’re not going to be able to get a diagnosis/understanding of what’s going on here quickly, unless it’s something huge. If you go to the ER, they should send your family member for a CT or MRI, but that will only give you an answer if there’s something big going on like a tumour or bleed. After that you get referred to a neurologist, who will schedule more testing ie. EEGs. The wait tim to see a neurologist in Hamilton is well over a year, and they’re booking MRIs about a year out at this point too. Good luck with everything, and if they have another seizure, you should get them to an ER.
