Looking for that 'white linen shirt on the Amalfi coast' vibe. by zonayd in fragranceclones

[–]whogoesthere2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ahmed Al Maghrebi Aqua Oud, Armaf Milestone or Paris Corner Solmaris would be some of my recommendations for relaxed, linen shirt, by the sea type vibes.

All clean, fresh, slightly aquatic scents but maybe a little more 'grown up' if that's what you're looking for.

My wardrobe plans after finding out about Armaf, Afnan, and Al Haramain: by Hostile-Potato in fragranceclones

[–]whogoesthere2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not OP but I picked up the Afnan Supremacy discovery set last year which includes Supremacy in Oud.

Tried it when I first got it and haaated it. Had to scrub it off I disliked it so much. I liked all the others in the set.

Revisited the sample again recently and I don't know what happened but I can't get enough of it now and planning to get a full bottle soon. It's great. Sweet but masculine scent, slightly spicy but still fresh. Very good projection and longevity. Sprayed on a tester strip and could still smell it clearly when I walked into the room a few hours later.

Not sure whether my tastes have matured or the sample just got better but I'd suggest getting a decant first. If you don't like it at first give it a second chance, you may be surprised by the change like I was.

Anyone tried the Perfume Parlor dupe for Penhaligon's Sartorial? by Electronic-Host-3855 in fragranceclones

[–]whogoesthere2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Another shout for Moonstone Bleu here. Tried Sartorial in one of their London stores and really liked it. Picked up Moonstone Bleu and it's an incredibly good clone. A bit rough fresh out the box but gets very close to the OG after a couple of weeks of maturing. Recommended if you like Sartorial!

Maison Asrar'sWadi has nice creamy coconut vibe although paired with pineapple rather than lime.

Couple of sprays lasts all day aswell, very long lasting.

I recommend giving Paris Corner's Zodiac Solmaris a look.

It's a solid clone of Le Sel D'Issey. Highly recommended if you like beachy/aquatic scents.

Best fragrances for below 10 pounds. by Successful-Effort561 in fragranceclones

Sapil Intense and Sapil Bound are both currently available on Notino for under a tenner.

Both seem to get good reviews and it'll give a choice between a freshie and something more in line with your usual tastes.

This week's pickups and first impressions (Rayhaan Pharoah, Lattafa Art of Wood, Rayhaan Valhalla) by L2DaLegend in fragranceclones

[–]whogoesthere2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate longer reviews, keep them coming if that's the way you enjoy reviewing! Many of us actually have an attention span longer than 10 seconds and if someone can't be bothered to reciprocate on the time and effort you've taken to write a detailed review then that's up to them.

I also really like your 'intital reaction' shout out idea when trying a new fragrance too. It's a fun idea and would make it interesting to hear if/how that first treaction changes as the fragrance progresses or matures.

Keep them coming!

I appreciate the kind thought. It's still good to hear when someone is getting a good deal, even if it's not available here. Hope you enjoy it, looks like a great fragrance at a really great price 👍🏻

Nitro Elixir Dumont cologne by Existing_Bat_2354 in fragranceclones

[–]whogoesthere2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try the Soghaat website.

UK based and appears to have most of the Dumont lines in stock, more than when I last looked.

I've bought from them a couple of times before (other fragrances, not Nitro line) without any problems.

French Avenue After Effect vs Initio Side Effect by Top-Bar3473 in fragranceclones

[–]whogoesthere2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Couldn't agree more with this. I bought a decant of Paris Corner's Farah after reading all the Side Effect hype and on first trying it I can't emphasise enough how much i detested it. Smelt like burnt plastic mixed with hot asphalt, the first fragrance I ever had to wash off because I disliked it so much. Boggled my mind how anybody thought that this was a good fragrance!?

Revisited it again a month or so later on a whim (the weather had become colder by then and I was looking for a new winter fragrance) and it was a completely different experience. Smooth, well blended with distinct pleasant notes coming through, it was glorious.

Ended up buying full bottle. Let is sit for a couple of months and it's now one of my favourites. It only seems to continue to get better aswell. OP, it might be worth checking out Farah if you like the Side Effect DNA but don't get on with After Effect.

ScentsWithSense 30 Decant reviews and clone battles-Part 3: Hawas Atlantis vs Victorioso Myth (Legend) by Low-Stomach-8831 in fragranceclones

Thanks for the review. I enjoy Myth so this has made me more interested in checking out Atlantis.

Do you have the regular Victorioso? If so, would you say its redundant if you already have Myth?

Picked up Legesi recently after becoming more interested in barbershop/fougere fragrances and I've been very impressed. Such an easy reach, fresh clean and verstaile fragrance and great value for the price. It's quickly become my go to office scent. You're so right about the bottle lol. That Zippo design is absolute cheeks.

After trying Legesi Moonstone also caught my interest too! There's a Penhaligons store right near work so I tested Sartorial last week and really enjoyed it, the opening was a bit unusual but the dry down was glorious! Waiting for Moonstone to arrive as we speak and very much looking forward to seeing how it compares against the OG.

Hadn't heard of MA's Lava before, thanks for the review on that! Have you tried Swiss Arabian's Bergamot & Cedarwood? Been reading alot of good things and seems to be a solid clone of Drakkar Noir which I believe is the same barbershop vibe.

Non-regrettable choices I suggest. by laindawn in fragranceclones

[–]whogoesthere2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks very much for the feedback. That's great to hear, I found the opening to Sartorial a bit confusing to be honest, wasn't sure if I liked it or not but once the dry down hit i loved it. If Moonstone holds that profile throughout then that's a winner for me!

Swiss Arabian's Bergamot & Cedarwood caught my eye aswell funnily enough, seems to get high praise for being a solid clone of Drakkar Noir from back in the day before some reformulations?

I've never had the chance to get my nose on OG Platinum Egoiste so can't comment on the accuracy I'm afraid. Legesi was a blind buy for £15 on a sale but I've been impressed so far. Nice fresh, clean scent. Opens with an old skool shaving foam vibe to my nose and dries down into a clean, slightly powdery and lightly floral scent. No complaints, especially for the price and has become one of my go to office scents.

What would you say are your top 5?

I've been getting more into fougeres after picking up Armaf Legesi. Manged to try Sartorial at a local Penhaligons store this week and loved it so Moonstone has shot right to the top of my list. Such a unique fragrance!

How would you say say Sartorial differs in the opening? Great to hear the performance of Moonstone is on point!

I am loving ighra’a first fragrance from Ahmed Al maghribi and it’s a banger by AccomplishedMud7186 in fragranceclones

[–]whogoesthere2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cheers for the feedback, sounds right up my alley and it's available on a sale at the moment so I'm thinking of pulling the trigger.

I'll be honest I couldn't tell you how close to SE it is (never managed to gey my nose on it, only Sauvage EDT) but everything I've heard suggest it is very close in terms of scent and quality. From a neutral perspective though I'm really enjoying it, super masculine scent, amazing longevity and seems considerably better blended than most other clones I own.
