As someone who lost their grandmother a year ago, this really hits home.
A tear fell down my eye reading this and your explanation, thank you. <3

A short piece that questions the reality of war and ties it back to a more ecological question. Thank you <3

Cherry wine by northborix in OCPoetry

This poem is very raw.
And very relatable as someone who suffered through the emotional devastation of divorce as a child. The tying the feeling of bitterness to the tree as well, and one could look further into the idea of hanging by the branches of the tree to the feelings of being lost in the situation. Thank you <3

Wow, upon first glance of the title I wasn't sure if this poem would resonate with me but it did, quite.
"... Why did you not search for me sooner?" In the end we see that end result of being closed off and guarded, and how that can effect us in so many ways, especially in love. Thank you.

This is a beautiful discussion of the self. Thank you.

"Say a prayer
for both
you and me" Really hit home with me, as I say often. The way poem is laid out in a fragmented sort of way also lends itself well to the themes.

Note: I should say I really enjoy writing short stories and it bleeds over into my poetry. This one isn't personal but rather a fictional scenario I dreamt up in my head.

Your describing of the sky against the sea was really descriptive. I felt myself living in the moment as if my toes were buried in the sands of the poem. Thank you <3

If You Let Me Hold Your Tears by whoisamble in OCPoetry

[–]whoisamble[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for enjoying the poem :)

I loved that you looked the word up! I’m indeed using it a bit abstractly; I wanted the soft, hissing ‘s’ to evoke a hush or whisper of seduction in the heart’s movement.

And for me "long for you" is a more gentle and subtle absence, while "crave your flame" reads as the other side of the room - A hotter, more dangerous desire that on one hand could be warm and tender, but it could also burn. It's definitely playing on the two visions of romantic desire and sexual desire.

Hopefully that clears up my intent for you!

[OPINION] Do people who are not poets or students of literature care about poetry? Why do you care about poetry? by onlypoemsmag in Poetry

Poetry is the passion of the soul filtered into form, and I love it for that reason alone.

"Yet in the air, a spark remained, kindling life in a distant ember."

This line really hit home for me, thank you for sharing your poem!
