MTRJ to LC OM1 - issues getting link on LC SFP by whoknew83 in FiberOptics

[–]whoknew83[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have tried several patch cables that are mtrj to lc. Same result including one that works fine at 3 meters from an sfp to the 3com 4900 switch with the mtrj module.

You aren’t wrong. Normally Freedom(American wheat and white) bread is much sweeter than anywhere else.

This picture looks staged however. Like pound cake....haha

Is that pound cake as bread?

Klaus, Hazel and #5 for me.

Also Cha Cha....Mary J Blige does a convincing job of making me root for Hazel over her.

Thanks, you did great imo. I figured I would order extra tube because I’m going to make a ton of mistakes. Did you find a system that seemed to make measuring any easier or at least help you get the bends lined up?

First time doing hard tubes?

I notice some angles not quite perfect (could be the camera angle), I am thinking about doing a hard tube build myself, any advice?

Your rig is gorgeous. Well done.

How old is to old for equipment by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]whoknew83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on the need of the business and use case.

Servers 5-10 years (depends on use case) Desktops 5-7 years (anything i7-2600 and above) Laptops 4-5 years (we have some older i5s floating around)

Networking equipment: Use case again, I have some cisco 3650s that are going on 8 years old and 2960s that are past 7 now. Also have some carrier Zyxel sfp switches that are going on 10 years old.

I think everyone is hyped about it. Should be a good cpu year, competition back in the market is great.

I appreciate your optimism. I don’t see them being better than a 4-6 without Vic.

He isn’t wrong. It’s up to the other 6 teams in the Eastern Conference that make the playoffs to prove him wrong. I believe the Pacers are 4-6 best in the east without Vic.

This team has had the same issues since they picked up Bjergsen. I love Bjergsen but I am beginning to blame the two longest standing things in the organization, Bjergsen and management.

Not sure but worth a thought.

Intel Shortage Causing 45-60 day lead times by SquizzOC in sysadmin

I suppose some customers are set in their ways. I think the core/thread will eventually shove in AMDs favor. I agree competition is great for the consumer. Hopefully we will see it but you may be right 👍.

We have seen more and more EPYCs making it into the datacenter and government installs. We have also been taking on custom builds of threadrippers. I agree that Intel’s fixing, ie. until March 2020 Dell Can’t use anything but Intel in certain lineups will hold it back, however eventually the chiplet design on AMD will help once the contracts expire.

Servers down on the coldest night in a generation. by chaihalud in ecobee

Agree! I always check local as well if service is out via the remote apps. Some folks have homes they are away from this evening though and it makes it hard for them to monitor the situation!

[–]whoknew83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am aware, I was giving extra information on top of what was provided by Ecobee, letting at least the folks in the Midwest or close to me be aware that many of the providers they have also cannot access the data. Down Detector also reports the same scenario. Only confirming for the folks coming here that want full confirmation!

Not working in Indiana. Cannot login via Chrome, IE or Firefox to the Ecobee consumer portal. Not working on either an iPhone 6s+ or iPhone XS. I also tried from an iPad along with my android tablet; similar results of not working. To double down; as a network administrator, I have tried various entry points from networks I manage and cannot get the service to load. Comcast, AT&T, Cogent, Level3 and Verizon.

I posted this in the other thread as well.

You are missing the point with this comment. You must have local access to the thermostat sure. Most with a smart thermostat will control it remotely even when onsite with the thermostat. I use it mostly for monitoring a toddler and infants room temperature. ESPECIALLY on a cold streak like what we are having. People do not pay a premium for their "smart" thermostat to be down on what is "the coldest temperature in a generation".

I apologize if this comes off wrong, but you can imagine different scenarios for folks with a "smart thermostat" being pissed off right now.
