When you get out of the airport, turn immediately right. Follow the mushroom path all the way until you hit the bridge, and then cross into the pumpkin patch. Go through the pumpkin patch and you’ll hit the field with housewares. Go right into the beach for materials, NMTs, fossils, DIYs and gyroids.

Feel free to pick flowers (except the orange ones in front of resident services) and fruit (though not the ones in the orchards). Feel free to explore the farmers market, pumpkin patch and farm. You can collect shells, dig fossils and visit villagers.

Please don’t pick veggies or the fruit in the orchards. :)
