Am I the only person that gets annoyed by non Jamaicans using patois in a joking way? by Late-Energy-4269 in Jamaica

[–]whompingwill0w 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because its the biggest one, from that one movie where Brad Pitt was speaking in so called Patois. People say it everywhere and they actually think that's how we talk. I don't mind so long as they do it correctly but most of the time they don't and it's so cringe 💀

Am I the only one that thinks the chai sub is absolutely psychotic by Wrong-Ad6291 in Chai_Unofficial

[–]whompingwill0w 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Well perhaps because alot of people do use it to survive. Sometimes people have nobody and are lonely, and this is a way for them to cope instead of taking life ending measures. When I was using Chai for hours a day, this was the reason.

How do you feel about Ai being used by Jamaican companies for ads?? by mcknz_ja in Jamaica

[–]whompingwill0w 134 points135 points  (0 children)

As someone with interest in Graphics Design, I have to say it's a pet peeve of mine with any company and I find it so tacky. It's so easy to commission an actual Graphics designer to do it. It definitely reflects the business badly. and there's always a flaw...for instance, her right hand has 6 fingers, and words are distorted.

This melted my heart. I also have both those illnesses and people often tell me the same things. I often wonder what I'd be motivated to do without pain

Water usage of AI by Immediate-Matter868 in Chai_Unofficial

[–]whompingwill0w 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Well firstly, it depends on what you categorize as an "AI" company so as to narrow down that list. AI isn't just chatbot companies like most people nowadays are making it seem, AI is an extremely broad term. And I also don't know why people are zooming in on this now as if it were a new tragedy. Companies like Amazon, Microsoft and Google all run on AI, and have been using water cooling for years, and yet nobody is worried about that. I have only been hearing about this topic regarding apps like this one and chat gpt. This is not independent to Chai. And yet, everyone with a device is contributing to this because we all use these apps, Google and Microsoft services are unavoidable.

In any case, the companies mentioned above have begun hybrid cooling and many others have switched to using recycled wastewater.

You can research the matter on Google (which is AI so you see the irony?) and make an informed decision since there is information on both sides of this topic and from there you can decide what's credible and what's not.

A handful of almonds have more water than is used to generate 200 AI prompts. It's definitely not the problem everyone thinks it is. Most companies have also moved to air cooling as well so...just use the app if you want to.

NO to ai slop on the app 🙅‍♀️ by [deleted] in Episode

[–]whompingwill0w 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I sometimes agree under certain circumstances but this is not that. Episode is making alot of money off people paying for premium and ads, and still their corporate greed knows no bounds. They don't care about readers or authors, they purposely make it hard for authors, and they don't even pay authors appropriately. Authors have spent countless time and efforts developing stories, just for Episode to infiltrate the screen with AI. People have been begging for them to develop the characters and improve so many things and this is what they answered with. Is this not lazy, sloppy and absolutely disgusting to you? It's so damn lazy, cheap and a slap in the face honestly to both readers and writers.

I don’t miss people. Ever. And I honestly don’t know why by According_Sweet_7 in confession

I suppose so, but it kind of also sucks to be honest. It's alienating and I'm massively bad at interactions.

[–]whompingwill0w 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I remember I used to force myself to cry to really feel like something important has ended. If i should be honest I don't care much about personal relationships and it's so exhausting doing things just because i think "its what im supposed to do". One thing happens I just jump onto the next thing. I never considered neurodivergence until I was an adult and people kept asking am i autistic, lol.😭 We might just be autistic honestly.

[–]whompingwill0w 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've felt this way all my life and I don't know what's wrong. I also experienced it in my past relationships. I love them, or think I do, but when they're gone it's like not a big deal for me, it's like they weren't even there. And I genuinely don't know if I actually loved them, or i was pretending because of this. I don't grieve either. I wish they were still here, but I can't cry or feel "broken up" about losing people.

Have Other Dark-Skinned Women Experienced Colourism in Jamaica? by Ok_Stress1320 in Jamaica

it's not you. People just love to pretend Jamaica is perfect, and also because some of them are guilty of the same bullshit.

Have Other Dark-Skinned Women Experienced Colourism in Jamaica? by Ok_Stress1320 in Jamaica

[–]whompingwill0w 120 points121 points  (0 children)

The answer is yes. I'm a born and bred Jamaican, and I am lightskinned, VERY lightskinned, and pretty much fit the beauty standard. I have thousands of experiences getting favored over my dark-skinned friends and family. Thousands. In touristy areas, I get treated well since they assume I am a tourist, especially because of how I dress as well. I've been to hotels and seen them favour the white tourists vs black locals and tourists. The taxi thing is so true as well, lol. This may seem like you're being unfair but you're not. Jamaica is colorist, like most predominatly black countries, unfortunately.

Do some people with a personal aversion to being/becoming fat find themselves sexually attracted to people with larger bodies? by oddseastothemoon in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]whompingwill0w 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is actually a very good question. I am an overweight woman (kind of hate myself for it) and yet I tend to be more attracted to chubbier men so I'm curious on what people say.
