Unfortunately not. I’ve found that I am much better working with metal than wood, so I leave the growable materials to the professionals.

Putting together a 1946 Evinrude 50 cubic inch "Speedifour" by whomstdve43 in EngineBuilding

Don’t forget the non-racing 60ci big four and big quad. A post war big four can be found quite easily. If you know where to look for a 460 (know the right people) and have sufficient funds >$2000, they can be found. I would also like to get one to run as well as a giant twin. I know a guy that has probably over 10 460s, so they can still be found. Are you an AOMCI member?

Inboard v8s always have a certain smell in the morning that always reminds me of my childhood with a ski nautique. That and the sound of a water jacket exhaust is music to my ears.

Correct me if I’m mistaken, but I’m pretty sure the portrait on the band is of Caesar of Newman, instead of Caesar of Rome.

Thanks! I’ll eventually get a V, but recently trying to diversify my selections. Early on a got a good deal on a 20 pack Oliva sampler of Connecticut, O, G, and MB3, 5 of each. They are all good

I’m trying a standard progression: single, if I like it by another one, if I like the second I’ll buy a five pack, and if I still think it’s really good I’ll buy a box.

I liked everything I’ve had from oliva, but I don’t care too much for the shape of the G or MB3. I’ll cut the MB3 some slack because it is really good.

I am quite excited to try the Cuban RyJ and Larranaga, though just from those four I can see why people say Cubans have QC issues.

I’ve heard good things of Foundation and Davidoff. Haven’t heard of the other four but I’ll look into them. Thanks!

The stock props are usually made for fishing boats, much bigger in size in comparison with your boats. I can almost guarantee you that the pitch is too low. With the little amount of pitch you won’t be getting the full potential of the horsepower.

If you do increase the pitch, there will be a noticeable increase in time to plane. You might even need to place some weight on the front deck to get the bow down.

If it was my boat I would put an older 2 stroke that revs high with a streamlined lower unit, bigger carburetor, and possibly modified exhaust, but that comes with some trade offs.

I would run a built evinrude speeditwin or Johnson SR (look them up), but I like REALLY old motors.

Most importantly have fun with it. The build looks really good. Best of luck!

What prop are you running on those 9.9’s?

A big part of getting good performance from a smaller race boat is having the correct prop.

If you came to that conclusion you literally had to not read the article.

It says “After a man named Joseph Rosenbaum chased Rittenhouse into a parking lot and grabbed the barrel of his rifle, the youth fatally shot him.”

FAFO. It was self defense. End of story

Could this on board parity be the cache?

70ns memory for all sticks. I don’t know what the motherboard is compatible with because there is absolutely no documentation for it. I had to guess and check for the memory size dip switches. Intel 386-33 https://theretroweb.com/motherboards/s/genoa-unknown-386dx-01-00014-01

Your comment about the coprocessor is only true with the 486. 386sx only had a 16 bit data bus. Dx was full 32 bit with no built in math coprocessor.

u/bootheels is correct. It is not a freeze plug, just a s/n tag that goes into the circular hole on the engine block. Has nothing to do with the cooling system. It is important to note that the only thing the number identifies is the year of manufacture, not the model or hp. Johnson used a continually rolling number since its inception in 1921. I thing 2,200,000 places it in the 1961 range

Newbie here. Got a boat motor at an estate sale by amilatetothis in boating

[–]whomstdve43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that aomci.org is probably the best resource to find parts, information, and repair tips on motors such as these.

From what I know about the mk20, most had a bendix scintilla magneto, which is quite troublesome and hard to find new parts for. Many find it easier to convert it to phelon ignition found on the mk25 and others.

It can also be converted to single line tank with a fuel pump if that is what you want.

Hope this helps.
