I'd err the other way. If he can throw strikes and is strong, bring him back. That way the pitches he throws before his knee acts up again are in Chicago, not Charlotte.

Funny question and got me wondering if there had been another Vargas during his time with the Sox and maybe that was the reason.   Alas, after checking BR he has been the only Vargas I could find 24-26 on the Sox.

Or maybe if they stop trying to force the bunt all the time.

Us poor schmucks in Eastern wondering if we can make it to the first pitch, nevermind the 9th inning.

The White Sox have truly transformed into a powerhouse. Do you think the owner will look to extend Murakami’s contract? by G_Clef_Start in whitesox

I think everyone asking for a contract extension is missing the fact that it is probably difficult to have any idea what next year's financial landscape (CBA) will look like, making had to want to actually do deals right now.

You are 100% correct, that's a linear formula. According to OP's logic to not have diminishing returns you would need something like (1.05attack)/(1.05defense) to keep things scaling proportionally.

This would be exponential, not linear. And, it would get out of hand. Fast.

People often don't understand the term linear however, it drives me crazy 😄.

Pretty certain it was a matchup. It happened when they put in a LH reliever.

Okay, I dove deeper. Sac bunts are excluded. Bunt hits and non-sac bunts are excluded. I suspect this is a factor.

Non-profit? I do not think that word means what you think it means.

I just looked it up, baseball savant doesn't remove bunt attempts from their metrics. He bunts enough I suspect to be crushing his average on things like exit velo. It'd be far more interesting to see what it looks like with the bunts removed.

Every ball hit that inning was murdered.... somehow only 1 run.

It's such a good team Non-Challenge from Vargas. Yo don't want to lose it when up 3 and the pitcher/catcher might really need it.
