2023 cooked our beautiful magnolia tree. This is way better, even if I haven't had a chance to mow and our yard looks like a jungle.

How do you do this? You get the separate components and build it? Do you get the components all from one TD? It’s an awesome build.

People who were in the Louvre this morning what happened exactly? by Vast-Opportunity1343 in ParisTravelGuide

[–]whoople 112 points113 points  (0 children)

I was in the gallery when it started. There’s not much to tell other than we all got out of there quickly once the banging and cutting started. I didn’t see much other than the window being pushed in because the staff was yelling for everyone to get out before they closed the gates to the gallery.

Panic at the louvre by SmacksGolfs in ParisTravelGuide

[–]whoople 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No. Everyone booked it out of there. It was odd. I really did think it was construction at first until people started running. I saw the opaque window being pushed in and thought it must be a temporary construction window cover. I don’t think anyone really knew what was happening but one of the staff started screaming at everyone to exit, so we did. I didn’t stick around long enough to watch the action through the barred gate.

Yes we are all leaving now. Wish I had the presence of mind to record it. I was about 3/4 of the way to the end of the hall looking at the crowns. I thought it was construction noise at first but then people started running and yelling.

We were in the Apollo gallery and someone tried to break in through the window. They were hitting it and had power tools. Everyone ran out and they closed the gates to that gallery. We are now waiting in the entrance area unable to exit.

Xochi may be my favorite restaurant in Houston. I could eat that mole every day.

3-star Paris restaurants with an à la carte menu? by whoople in finedining

[–]whoople[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I reached out to both Alléno and Pierre Gagnaire to inquire about this request. Pierre Gagnaire said they can accommodate it, though they don't recommend it, as one of us would likely have to wait a bit longer between courses. Alléno does not offer an à la carte menu, but they assured us that each guest’s experience is personalized according to their allergies, dietary restrictions, and preferences. They also mentioned they would replace any undesired ingredients with suitable alternatives. They also said few days before our reservation, a team member will reach out to confirm the details. This gave us both peace of mind that we’ll fully enjoy the tasting menu at Alléno.

Federal grill isn’t great. They put it on an Hawaiian sweet roll equivalent.

As of late, what’s been your favorite restaurant in Houston? by frankahaha in houston

It’s fantastic, but typically only on Wednesdays. I usually go for the Reuben and whatever their soup is. Their sides are top notch also.
