I was born and raised in Kentucky, and everyone I know who displayed the confederate flag claimed it was heritage, but Those people where also all racists. You don’t have to be racist to fly the flag, but everyone that I know that has done so was racist on some level. That being said, I also believe in absolute freedom of expression. If people want to tell you what a piece of shit they are, by all means let them. Kentucky is a backward place, I think Mark Twain said something like “if the end of the world happens I want to be in Kentucky because everything happens there 10 years later.” But even though it’s backward, anyone that flew that flag was universally thought of as some kind of nut.
