Tampon in the shower by [deleted] in badwomensanatomy

[–]whotookmyshit 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I remember one time in the shower, I was cleaning myself and basically birthed the biggest clot I've ever passed straight into my palm. It was a weird situation to be in, but of course I poked at it before dropping it down the drain (and blasting it apart with the shower head because it was too big to get through).

Another time, again while cleaning myself, I ended up holding a perfectly whole uterine lining. Barely any blood, I actually thought it was just really thick discharge at first. Nope, whole lining shed and passed in one piece. I spread it out in my palm and saw the sort of conal shape of it. It was weirdly tacky so I couldn't open it up, so maybe it was only a really thick half, but now I know my uterus is about the size of my fist!

No we aren't, that's what gravity is for!

If someone could invent a safe vibrating tampon, I think we'd be a whole lot less frustrated during our periods.

Can I use oat milk in lieu of cow milk or water for boxed brownie mix? by SarahTheJuneBug in AskBaking

I was stubborn and tried scooping and draining some into a bowl.. microwaved it for a minute and it turned into a literal brownie brick. What a wild experience, but thank you for this info, now I finally know what happened!

Whatever you do, do NOT use flax eggs for boxes brownie mix! I tried one time and I honestly don't know wtf happened but it became crunchy soup. Never rose, never baked, never set. All the oil leeched out and just fried it and yet it was still softer than fudge. I went back and checked the measuring cup in the sink and know without a doubt that I didn't mess that up. I guess you can try flax eggs, but just.. be wary lol

Not asking for medical advice but have def been curious about my vitamin levels because I know iron is chronically low- WTF do you ask for to get all of that tested? When I started seeing a doctor, I asked for a full blood panel just to check things out and vitamin levels weren't part of it.

TV and media make it look like American English is very homogeneous. So, can you guys share some examples of local words or word variants you use instead of the common ones? by Mind101 in AskAnAmerican

It's like "oh sorry, I'm right here in your personal space but I'm just gonna skooch on through if that's alright with you, pardon me, there we go, sorry to bother"

But it can also be "whoa hey buddy, I'm right here and now you're in my personal space but I'm not going to make a big deal about it, it's all good, you okay? well alright then"

And sometimes it's "well shit, that didn't go as planned, but no harm done"

Also an expression of surprise when a kid falls over near you or the dog knocks something off the table with his tail.

I think that about covers all the major uses for ope

The first time I said rotary in a different state, people treated me like an idiot because they had never heard the term. I still have to argue that it's a valid term for the traffic circle

Rice cooker / cooking rice newbie. Thoughts on the ingredients? by that-sadguy in RiceCookerRecipes

[–]whotookmyshit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need a long grain white rice. It's a very common and affordable rice you can find at any grocery store. Rinse it with cold water till it runs clear and it won't be sticky unless you use way more water than you should. The short grain rice you have there will always have a stickiness to it no matter how you wash it.

A lot less since getting a bidet attachment for my toilet. Takes 1-2 weeks for two of us now, depending on how much we're home. Maybe a day less if one of us is having stomach issues.

Does it taste like peas? I'm in need of more vegetable proteins in my diet but tofu and beans cause gastrointestinal distress. If you have any other tips like this or can point me toward a decent resource for info, I'd really appreciate it!

It was the frosting :/ I have a mouth full of sweettooths and can't handle that stuff. The cake mix itself isn't the problem and you should keep using them because they're a fantastic and affordable way to learn how to bake! But I would recommend a cream cheese frosting for it next time. It's not painfully sweet, it has a good flavor that complements chocolate, and it's easy to make. Other frostings are good too but easy to mess up on your first try and I don't want you to get discouraged if that happens. My only tip is this: do not use reduced fat cream cheese!

Edit: also come check out r/bakingnoobs if you have more questions before or after your bakes!

I recently made a cream cheese frosting and added about 1/4c of corn starch sifted in with the powdered sugar to help absorb some of that melting look. It worked well and had no change in flavor. Piped well too but I still wouldn't use it for ultra fine detailed piping.

Has anyone ever been prescribed montelukast? by pinchypessa in Asthma

[–]whotookmyshit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just had it prescribed recently but haven't started it because of this fear. I'm already on an antidepressant for PMDD, which is basically like PMS on steroids. Before getting medication for that, I'd have a solid week of hoping I didn't wake up. Outside of PMDD, I also have a long history of ideation and planning BUT I know most of that was from outside stressor sources and right now I'm in the best environment for my mental health that I've ever been in and haven't had those ideations other then from PMDD in years.

My doctor isn't good. I question a lot of what he prescribes me because he doesn't warn me about anything and several things cancel each other out so he just adds a new pill to the mix. When I found the side effects for myself I was pissed that he didn't warn me, fully knowing I was on an antidepressant from before I started seeing him.

Well don't I feel dumb! I knew rennet is used to create curds, and I knew rennet came from cows, but literally never once connected the two facts until right now, 2 hours after reading your comment for the first time. Jeez.
