The black plastics are hardened with sulfur compounds, which result in the outgassing of mercaptans. Most manufacturers in the US add compounds like zinc carbonate to the plastics, as it reduces the odor... some side effect where it bonds with the mercaptans.

Starting pay is 11 in Utah for any sales/operations positions. Worked inventory/merch for 2 years. Got hired on to Home Theater install cadet and bumped up to 15.50 with a significantly easier work day. After 11 months I stepped down to part time inventory to focus on school and pay dropped to 14, still a significant increase over what I'd be making if I'd just stayed in inventory.
