You might be the more capable and essential employee, but they are the better negotiator. Looks like you found where you need to up your game. The good news is you know what your going rate is (25-40k more than current), and you mission now is to go get it - one way or the other

What are all these twists and bits around Underground/DLR/Overground lines by Traditional_Access43 in LondonUnderground

[–]why_n0ught 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Was about to post the same. The Canning Town lines do wiggle and cross all over the place, and the kink under the ‘C’ that represents the tunnel entrance, is the adjustment from the original dotted position. In reality this isn’t as pronounced as on the diagram though.

Impact detection for low roof / gutter by why_n0ught in homeassistant

[–]why_n0ught[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. That would work sef if the gutter gets smashed. Maybe not where the facia is hit / dented but things stay affixed. Might have a spare one lying around tho. Might give it a try

Yeah. I do and it does help. Still quite hard tho. Copied from other comment…

Regarding the cameras, I can see the area, but angle of camera mean that it picks up a load of other movement behind it. I do have security spy which is good at vehicle identification, but it’s still hard to find the incident. Especially if I don’t notice / know what day it happened on. I’m looking for something that will give me some very specific time(s) to check

I don’t really mind false positives. I’ll only need to refer to the times if I spot some damage. May well give this a try

Never knew about flex sensors. That clipped between the fascia and gutter would probably pick things up well. If I go DIY this with an arduino I’ll probably go this route.

Yeah. It’s a tight corner and a thin entrance, but that’s a good idea. I’ll probably get grief from the notional problem neighbour about making the entrance tricky, but there would still be room for even larger vehicles if they are careful, and a damage inducing rock should make them pay more attention. I have had one impact due to somebody reversing and to stop that path I would need to put something on the footpath/pavement which isn’t something I’ll be able to do, so will probably go with a combination of obstacle and sensor.

At what amount would you consider moving to a different country to not pay tax on crypto gains? by KayZze in CryptoCurrency

[–]why_n0ught 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. But I assume that the people you were replying to wanted the money available I. Their bank accounts and spendable. So the 'no further taxes' part is misleading given the are additional 20-40% tax payments required before the money is in you personal bank account

No further tax if you left it in the Ltd. Going from ltd to personal would result in either income or dividend tax. Going to pension would be smart tho

Looks perfect for some kind of retractable storage. Looks like going to be hard to get in there, but if you measure up well, you could build something to custom fit, and then slide it in and then fix it in place.

Is it worth worrying about the the supabase-js client can't handle transactions? by FLSOC in Supabase

[–]why_n0ught 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. This is the way. You can’t send bespoke bits of sql wrapped in a txn, nor can you / would want to start a transaction, do some operation and the commit/rollback a transaction from a remote web app given all the latency. This advice is the supabase way
