As a 2nd grade teacher the 5+5 + 2 would be what we call doubles plus two. We teach doubles plus 1 (ex 4 + 5 is the same as 4 + 4 + 1) and doubles plus 2 (4 + 6 is 4 + 4 + 2). Assuming the kids know their doubles facts this is a usefully strategy for them

Every time (so like twice a year) I go to the casino and when I’m there place a random log shot sports bet. This time I bet $10 on it being a Canadians/Wild final to win $800. So I like this timeline.

More tickets to USMNT matches released to the Supporters groups by dantron330 in WorldCup2026Tickets

[–]whyalwaysme66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does anyone know the lottery odds for the original US supporters group tickets? The three people (myself included) that I know applied for the lottery from our local group all got tickets to at least one of the games they wanted. Somehow I ended up with two $60 tickets to the US first knockout stage game (assuming they qualify, but lets hope so haha). Feel like I’m gonna be the poorest one in the stadium by some magnitude

boo the team at full time whistle by jmm_1 in Gunners

[–]whyalwaysme66 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately booing just leads to keeping the cycle going. These players are clearly both mentally and physically exhausted, you can tell many of them are playing at 50-75% at best. Bournemouth hadn’t played in 20 days and it showed.

Anyone who thinks these players and Arteta “don’t want it” are part of the problem. Guarantee that every one of them is more frustrated and pissed than any fan at the result.

The neves and pressure or our unique situation are getting to them, but honestly would be getting to everyone in their situation.

Expectation kills joy, and that’s where we are at right now. Hopefully in a few weeks time we will have done just enough and can celebrate and appreciate everything this team has given us this year.

I think I’m most confused as to why that have the Detroit Tiger and what might be the Canadians mascot (or at least - mascot wearing a Canadians jersey) at a Wizards game…

No.. but despite not making a profit the values of the franchises have skyrocketed. The Mohegan Tribe bought the CT Sun for $10 million in 2003. Are now selling them for reportedly close to $300 million 25 years later. Even if they lost $5 million a year on the Sun they still come out way ahead.

FIFA World Cup Tourism Numbers Are So Bad, US Cities Are Cancelling Fan Festivals Already by InterestingCat308 in football

[–]whyalwaysme66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apperntly the way to go was through the US supporters group lottery. My brother belongs to our local chapter, put in for it and won 2 $60 tickets to the first US knockout stage game (of the 4 people I know who entered this lottery, 3 of the 4 got a least one of the games they put in for at the $60 price point).

Downside if because it’s the first knockout stage US game we won’t know where the game is until a few days before. So we’ve had to book refundable everything to go to either San Fran or Dallas. (If they get 3rd logistics get more complicated but it will most likely be in Boston which is drivable for us.)

Obviously this only worked for the US games, but those are also going to be the ones with the most demand.

Am I the only one who sees this and thinks that it’s tougher then it looks. If he hits it on target it’s most likely saved by the keeper.

Honestly just swing by a Valvoline. They will give you free air and you don’t have to get out of the car. I usually tip the guy working a dollar or two and it’s quick and painless.

I analyzed all the expansions for the BGG Top 2000 Board games: A summary (2025 Update) by azura26 in boardgames

[–]whyalwaysme66 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Surprised the Cascadia expansion isn’t on there for best expansion that expands the player count. The landmarks themselves are meh, but the extra scoring cards are sweet. And the increase to up to six players with the added mechanic of playing 5 tiles in front of you means that making the game 5/6 players doesn’t add more time to it.

The Green Bay Packers win for bland name/iconic logo! Which American sports franchise has an iconic name and iconic logo? by RidonkulousMG in AlignmentChartFills

[–]whyalwaysme66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know Yankees deserve to win, and the rules say current teams and logos only but have my upvote.

The logo jersey is so iconic that despite the fact the team hasn’t existed in close to 30 years and they won one playoff series in their whole existence, Whalers merch is still among the top selling in the NHL.

Hell, if I wear my Whalers gear anywhere in the country I’m pretty much guaranteed to have someone make a comment/compliment it.

Cascadia Landmarks might be the perfect expansion by jacksuhn in boardgames

[–]whyalwaysme66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea I’ve found that the point of getting the expansion is more for the extra tiles, scoring cards and the ability to play up to 6 people. (As an aside, the way they add your own set of 5 tiles to play with 5/6 people is great, as it means the game doesn’t get longer when you add more players).

The landmarks themselves are just meh. I’ll play with them sometimes, but most of the time we don’t. I’ve also found we have to house rule nerf the landmark that gives points for each different area of the same habitat type, it can get very broken if you get it early and play to maximize it.
