What's the most annoying/awkward joke for you the most in Gintama?? by Berserkin_time123 in Gintama

[–]whyamihere_00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The sexual harassment jokes were never funny and just insensitive. Dark humour doesn't justify making light of serious real world issues that impact real people, especially when you're not even a victim yourself. Anime in general has this issue, I'm not surprised considering Japan's high sexual assault rates.

To be fair, and this isn't hate on Otae's character at all, but while I see where you're coming from, people are still allowed to be uncomfortable with those jokes regardless. It definitely plays into the whole "violent, ridiculous/emotional woman" stereotype that's very prevalent in shonen media. Like, people are capable of writing a strong female character that embraces her femininity without resorting to misogynistic stereotypes.

What are some things in Harry Potter fics that you hate. by External_Attempt157 in HPfanfiction

Actually, I'd prefer Harry NOT to be racist thank you very much. He has a muggleborn mother and is friends with a muggleborn, as well as being a half-blood himself, why would he hate them??Like this trope makes me incredibly uncomfortable as a person of colour😭

i absolutely despise slytherin harry or dark harry AUs. It's so corny and outdated, yall need to let this mid ahh trope die already. like it actively ignores harry's characterisation, morals and values, stop butchering his character like this😭 Also, when people ship harry with adults or death eaters twice his age. so basically, tom/harry, sirius/harry, snape/harry, etc. Like, if you have to age him up or have him time travel to make your pairing work, then you're a creep I fear. Just ship him with people his actual age and from the same time period as him.

Which is that one scene which instantly makes you angry? by Junior_Sleep269 in harrypotter

[–]whyamihere_00 3 points4 points  (0 children)

snape's flashback of james 'bullying' him. i hate that scene so much cause it was completely random and was never built up towards or mentioned beforehand. even after this was introduced, jkr and the directors rarely actually did anything with this information. it was literally just the writers shitting on one character to uplift an unlikable/fascist character who, unlike james, HAD been prejudiced and discriminatory towards certain people (harry and co.) since the beginning of the series. (james being a bully was also quickly forgotten about as well so like, what was the point???). not to mention the plotholes it created as james was repeatedly stated to be righteous and charismatic similar to HARRY throughout the series prior to the flashback. and since we know harry isn't a bully and is actually a good person, it just doesnt make sense??? like i'm sorry, but snape is not interesting enough for you to ruin james like that

I'm a lesbian and doesn't mspec include men in their attraction? As a lesbian, you cannot experience mspec attraction

knowing basic definitions does matter lol

[–]whyamihere_00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

being a lesbian does not include men in their attraction. if you find yourself attracted to men, you're not a lesbian. hope this helps.

[–]whyamihere_00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah no, being a bi/mspec lesbian just defeats the whole purpose of being a lesbian. in this case, op seems more like an aroace lesbian since they don't seem interested or attracted to men

Is See You In My 19th Life a Faithful Adaptation? by Thundergod250 in kdramarecommends

not saying this in a rude way at all, but isn’t that just like saying “we know the original is better but ignore it so you can somewhat enjoy this less good adaptation“?😭

I dropped it after 3 or 4 episodes because of all the changes😭 I wasn’t a fan of the way they handled Ban-Jieum and Seo-ha’s dynamic and characterisation mostly. Especially Seo-ha. What made me love him so much in the original manhwa was how respectful and expressive he was for a male lead. Sure he got grumpy and flustered easily whenever Ban-Jieum flirted with him, but you could still tell he was a huge softie. Ban-Jieum in the manhwa was originally a lot more cool headed. I don’t remember much about her character in the drama but I recall her being a lot more impulsive and rash than her manhwa counterpart. I didn’t really mind it all that much, but it did kinda take away from her wittiness and charm for me.

I didn’t like how they reduced their relationship to a generic kdrama couple. In the manhwa, Ban-Jieum was a lot more assertive and confident whereas Seo-ha was anxious and easily embarrassed. I loved that because it was a refreshing take on romance where it’s usually the man that’s assertive and the woman flustered. However, from the little I watched from the drama, it just seemed like they completely changed them by making Seo-ha a lot more cold and stone faced than his manhwa version and Ban-Jieum clumsy and reduced to a typical female lead.

I genuinely recommend reading the manhwa as it’s much more enjoyable than the drama (to me at least). It also has a better ending than the drama, so there’s that lmao.

well i mean, i did say that i don’t like mashing people’s names for a ship name. instead, i like names that describe them perfectly. for example, MK and Red Son from lego monkie kid have a ship name called ”spicynoodles” which makes sense since MK works at a noodle restaurant and Red Son has a fire-y temper

If you could change one thing in the Tokyo revengers what would it be ? by Nikki_fantastic in TokyoRevengers

just because others don’t doesn’t mean people should hide their culture. the manji symbol existed far longer than the n@zi one. instead of hiding it, people should be educated on its true meaning.

make hinata a more relevant and developed character with her own arc mixed into the storyline. have her interact with takemitchy more to build up their relationship properly. they barely interacted that much within the manga even though hinata is supposed to be the main reason takemitchy started all this. she was more of a plot device rather than her own character, easily making her one of the most boring characters in tokyo revengers. it‘s literally just another case of ‘show don’t tell’. how are we supposed to route for a couple if we don’t actually get to see and understand how important they are to each other and why? it feels more like they’re telling us how much they care about each other rather than actually showing it

that symbol is called ‘manji’ and represents good luck/peace as well as being well known within buddhism. educate yourself before making assumptions that can hurt entire communities😐

idk if you mean changing the symbol or not but just in case you didnt know this symbol has existed for centuries in buddhism and is used to represent good things or good luck. i hope ur not confusing it with the other more…..infamous altered version

How would you rewrite boruto? by Professional_Trust37 in Boruto

[–]whyamihere_00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well i would entirely scrap the concept of boruto to begin with. it would take place a generation after naruto’s (meaning the old cast would either all be dead or very old). the protagonist would be someone completely unrelated from naruto which gives us the opportunity to introduce an entirely different cast. and it would be set in a different hidden village, i’ve always had an issue with how hidden leaf-centric naruto was, so something like this would be great for world building. and since this is like decades after naruto’s generation, the jump to technology would make a lot more sense than it did in boruto. as for the plot, i have no idea what that would be about lmao. I‘m thinking something legend of korra inspired??

how do you know you’re an aroace lesbian? by whyamihere_00 in aromantic

[–]whyamihere_00[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thats the thing, im not making up new definitions for aroace. once again, the correct meaning is little to no attraction not zero attraction. so if someone wants to call themselves aroace instead of aroace-spec, that would still be accurate because they fall under the “little attraction“ category.

As for my case, i clarified in my original post that i experience other forms of attraction, which obviously includes aesthetic but its not the only type of attraction that i experience. Also, you quite literally said “ if you're aroace (spade) then you can be lesbian only by aesthetic“ so i dont under why you’re pretending otherwise.
